Is it wrong,

Don't ya just love it when people don't read the thread...just read the opening post and chime in?

Post #42 said, clearly, "Thanks, everyone, for your input. The decision is made and this thread is over & done."

That was the OP speaking.

But the mindless posts continue unabated...

Why are you still posting then?? ;)

Charter Arms makes the Lavender Lady, a 2" 38 Special revolver with a lavender frame.

If it has to be a S&W, try to find one in good mechanical condition that needs to be refinished any way. Then you are not hurting the value of the revolver.
What he said.

Yes, some people will paint a classic '63 Riviera purple and put 22 inch monstrosities on it, and some people will think it looks good. But most nice quality old things (or old style things) are cool for a reason. And that reason is they got it right the FIRST time!

But it's your property...do what you want.

I cannot give someone I love a Taurus. A semi is out . She won't shoot any of mine at all; not a 9mm, 40SW, or 45ACP. She shoots her 4" GP-100 pretty well with .38s, but it doesn't fit her purse.

She used to say that her favorite color is chrome, so I thought the nickel Smith would make her happy.
Since you probably don't love me, I'll take your Taurus :)

I recently saw a titanium finished SIG P238 that had a lot of purple in the hue. I thought the ladies would love it. It did look good. I do not know who does those fancy finishes for SIG. I would bet THAT would be durable enough. Taurus used to titanium coat some of their guns.

I understand what everyone is saying. Just to level the field, we've been married 26 years. That includes almost my entire military career and eleven years of being a cop afterwards.

I have her knowing now that this gun (as all our guns) will stay in the family after we are gone, and will become an heirloom like my granddad's Nazi Hi-Power. Turning it purple is unacceptable.

If it is unacceptable why the thread?

But since you did and have stated in Post 42 the "decision is made" what was the decision? (My bet is what your wife wants doesn't matter to you).
