I have small hands and time, like all things, has crept up on me. I cannot handle the recoil the .45s I shot for years. I have a 1993 Mitchell Arms Luger reproduction in S/S. It fits my hands perfect. It shoots well but I am certain it needs new mag springs as it jams. I still have not figured out what metric size punch I need and if I need the round or square springs. Can it handle the 110% springs?

I would also like to get a new 9mm with a single action capability. All I find are double stack. Can anyone make a suggestion?

Single action only? Or DA/SA?

1911s can be found in 9mm, Rock Islands are pretty affordable. Nothing else steel framed and single stack is coming to mind right now... Unless alloy framed is ok? Got a few ideas for those.

Lots of older guns: Luger, Radom P35, Astra 600, several Star autos (BM?), Walther P-38 (WWII versions), some S&W 639 &539 (and their 952's), Beretta 951 (but the Helwan version is usually problematic), Swedish Lhati, Chinese Tokarev, Yugo Tokarev, Hungarian made Tokagypt.

A 1911 in 9mm - I would recomend the Dan Wesson PM-9. Also the S&W Model 952. Both are very accurate.
Another option is the Kahr T-9.

+1 Sig P239

Springfield EMP may also be a good choice. Smith CS9 (no longer in production ) as well.

STI Trojan 1911 9mm, love the SIG P239 but isn't the frame alloy? STI Trojan, flawless reliability with a ramped barrel, lowest recoil and best shooting 9mm in my arsenal / collection.

there are LOTS of used pistols that are steel framed

And my personal (current) holy grail
a Beretta or Stoeger (some tooling different Benelli sub corp) Cougar 8000
