ive been using only hodgdons powders so far, and i think its all i will need but im looking for info and cant find it.

i know that varget is large extruded pellets and i love how it meters through my ppm. and it does not leak at all

i also know that h335 is very fine and meters well, but leaks a little from my ppm.

i would like to know the granule size of a few others like benchmark, and h4198, but havent been able to find the info anywhere.

i wouldnt feel right about asking to open a sealed container at my reloading supply, so i figured i would give you guys a shot.

if you search, there's a thread from maybe a year ago with pictures of most of the common powders. it was a pretty cool thread. it might even be stickied.

btw, if you got varget to meter w/o crunching, i'd love to know what you did

some of the older speer books show powder and types with photos so u can see what the differance is in size and shape.

Here are some pics I've taken and have posted here before.

Most are of Hodgdon powders, with one Accurate Arms also. They're not great pics, but they can give you some idea of relative size.

Others here can compare different powders (TAC, etc) to something similar in the pics.

Just remember that H322 is faster than H335/AA2230 which are faster than Varget, and BL-(C)2 is the slowest. Bullet weight and barrel length should be considered when selecting powder, in addition to what might meter best in your powder measure.

Maybe this helped you a little.

Hi Bryan: I clipped out an old Guns & Ammo artical from August/02 and it shows the cc/grn & grns/cc for many powders at that time. (1) Varget is 0.0731 cc/grn and 13.680 grns/cc (2) h335 is 0.0645 cc/grn and 15.504 grns/cc (3) h4198 is 0.750 cc/grn and 13.333 grns/cc. Couldn't find Benchmark on that list. I'd be glad to send more if that helps? Mike 3/4
