Since the new and improved GunsAmerica website is total piece of garbage, and the owners don't seem to be moving very fast to fix it, I was wondering if anyone knew of any similar websites.

Gunbroker is OK, but its an auction site.

Have the powers that be at THR considered starting up a similar site for gun sale?

I've used www.auctionarms.com several times and liked it best. Seems like you can find some good deals and not nearly as much bidder competition. So it probably sucks if you want to sell something, but fantastic if you want to buy something. For instance, recently I bought a S&W 29-3 in 98% condition shipped for a buy now price of $400.

Anything that isn't auction-based?

Bud's is great pricewise for what they do have - but they don't have much, comparatively speaking. GunsAmerica was a nice place to find deals on used guns, but the new site blows chunks in every way possible.

I don't much care for the auction format. I have bought a couple of guns through the old Guns America and I liked it. I agree the new "look," in which they are trying to be both a listing site and an auction site, is horrible. I have e-mailed them twice to tell them that the requirement to register just to use the search function or to get a phone number for the seller is idiotic, because I refuse to register. So they've lost me as a potential customer for thier listers, and I don'tthink I'm the only one.

Those who agree -- please e-mail them and tell them. Possibly the ONLY good thing about the new site is that there is a "Contact Us" link on the very bottom of the home page. With the old site, there was no way for a casual buyer to contact them.

Let 'em hear from you. Now is the time.

I just ignore the auctions on GunBroker and AuctionArms - if it's a Buy It Now item, I take a look.

Gunsamerica

Has been ruined. I couldn't agree more. They don't want to do anything about it, either. They keep saying how much we're all going to love it, but so far, everyone hates it. :(

+1 for Auction Arms and Gunbroker.
On Auction Arms, some are auctions some are buy it out right. They also have dutch auctions and penny auctions, and more.
I got a couple of great pistols by simply putting in minimum bids for what I wanted and waiting. I lost a lot to higher bids, but the two I got were a great deal and great pistols. I have dealt with about a half dozen folks on AA and they have all been honest in their descriptions, and professional in the exchange.
I have also had great results from Gunbroker, but they do seem to get a lot more hyped prices there.

Not really an auction site, and I've never purchased anything from here, but I spoke to Mike??? (can't remember his name) about a $375 99% K-22 Combat Masterpiece / M18-3 a few months ago. Really nice guy, and very helpful. Many others on THR have done business with him and had great experiences.

An example of some of the guns he has right now:

A pair of S&W Model 65s for $255

A Glock 22c with 3 15 rounders for $399

I had noticed that they shut down the Forum at GunsAmerica also. Was that because of all the threads complaining about how they had ruined the site??? They gave some reason about user names not be posted correctly on the forums.

Is there

Since Ruger is going to stop making their PC line of carbines,I bought a PC4 on gunbroker 3 months ago for about $200 less than a local store. many of the guns on GB are at Buy Now price and you can get a good deal if you take your time and check back on the site every few days.

Admittedly, I'm into surplus arms, but the Gunboards.com Trader Forum works pretty good for what I'm interested in.

Vern, I think that would be an excellent idea. Thanks to the poor programming and the lack of concern by the owners of Guns America, there is a window of opportunity for a new website specializing in gun classified ads.

Yeah the guns america site got ruined overnight. Actually Springfield-armory.com was messed up for a day or so, at least to the extent that you couldn't navigate to an XD beyond the 45. You should check out impactguns.com they seem to have a lot of good prices, though i don't have any personal experience with them.

My guess, is that they will have to do something eventually, due to lack of activity. I used to be a daily visitor. It isn't worth the effort now...period.
I hope they backed up the old site....it was far far far superior to the crap they now have.

I've sent an email asking Oleg if he is willing to start a service like Gunsamerica. Like-minded people are free to chime in.

It seems to me Oleg could take advantage of a great economic opportunity here, and help fellow gunnies at the same time.
