heya peeps

just wondering if anyone knew if Israel accepted american concealed carry permits, I'd like to take a trip over there at some point (prolly not now until Hamas gets ousted) but would feel a lot better if I could take Claudia with me..

anyone got the scoop here?

any countries accept our concealed carry permits? I'd like to see a bit of the world, preferably in the manner I am accustomed to.

I doubt any countries accept a US CCW permit. Israel definately doesn't, it is hard for a US citizen (read: pretty much impossible) to get an Israeli permit without dual citizenship and residency.

thanks, I doubted any place in europe would, except mebbe the gun loving countries like poland and switzerland...

Israel tho, I Dunno tho, I see pics of school girls packing m16s, so I hoped.

Seeing as how some CCW permits in the US are issued my states and not the federal goverment, with some states not even honoring them, I doubt any foreign goverments would accept them.

well a guy can hope :(

Even if they did it's not like you could just toss the pistol in your luggage and take it with, and if you did get it over it would be even harder to import it back into the US.

It's not that hard to get guns back into the states if you get the required documentation before leaving.

And yeah, Israel is actually pretty tough to get a carry license in.

Yeah but handguns and battle rifles are two very different animals in Israel. Handguns are tightly regulated, but rifles are easy to come by. It seems weird to us, but they aren't concerned with RKBA, just the necessity of defending themselves from foreign invasion.

The CCW would be least of your problems. You won't find many nations that will allow you to bring handguns into their country period.

hahahahaha...

i'm sorry, as AFS said, it just aint happenin'. trust me, i've been there.

i think some parts of israel are starting to take away m16s from certain israelies .. this one incident, these jews are so religious that they would shoot at cars driving by their village on a saturday (saturday being their relgious holiday)..

talk about being religious..

anyway, why the hell do u want to go to israel?

i went there b/c 75% of my family live there.

I need to mention what MAY be false information.

Allegedly, Americans can get a license for OPEN handgun carry in Israel. This could be B.S., but I would call the Israeli Consulate and get the direct scoop.

Umm, Israel restricts gun ownership for all kinds of reasons, but not what you are charging. While there are teen punks in the Orthodox world like in all groups, NO religious Jew will shoot at cars on the sabbath for violating shabbos. First, life is sacred, to the degree that we can break the sabbath in order to SAVE a life. Second, (and probably far less importantly), short of warfare or a self-defense shooting you can't fire a gun on the sabbath. You are saying that Orthodox Jews are violating the sabbath (firing a gun) and committing an even bigger sin (firing a gun at people who don't pose a threat) to protest people breaking the sabbath?!! It may be a rumor going around Israeli secular circles (which are extremely anti-religious), but it sure doesn't pass the "smell test" so you really shouldn't be spreading it around.

Since there are people here who are in the know I'd like input on another rumor that I heard about Isreal.
Someone told me that if you are going to be out late in public that you could stop by the police station and they would lend you an uzi for protection.
Sounded pretty far fetched to me. Is this true?

I bet if you were in Somalia or some such place

it probably be pretty easy to score a pistol....I think open carry is legal in Iraq too.
