You spent the time and money to build your own private 100 yard range and only use it 4 or 5 times per year. Gonna have to change that! But when you run a business and have a family of 6, that's your life. Lol.
I spent the morning and early afternoon running parts, but it was so beautiful this evening when the wind died down, I decided to take advantage. It's been an unusually cold & snowy winter, and when that finally let up, the winds came. Last 4 days have been consistent 40-60 MPH. Preparing me for Wyoming I suppose. But anyway...
The new-to-me M1A needed zeroed after modifications for the suppressor and a new rail, so got that critter dialed in. Also had to re-zero the .375 RUM, which I re-threaded recently to have more shoulder with a collar.
And the FAL hadn't been out in awhile, so made sure she's still running 100%. Love this rifle!
Did some chronographing with the .300 mag, but then spent time behind one of my favorites with a new load:
The integrally suppressed Mossberg Patriot 7mm-08 has always been a shooter, especially for a $329 sporter, but the 130 gr. matchkings @2,600 it really likes, putting down .7 MOA 5 shot groups. It's zeroed for 250 yards, so yeah, high @ 100
Also respectable velocity for an 18" barrel that is heavily ported starting at 14.5"!
My 10 shot groups opened up a bit, but in my defense, my left hand had to be a sun shade instead of being used for stability. That's what I get for building a West facing range! But the land kinda dictated that, so it is what it is. Not bad until the last 2, 2-1/2 hours of light, though.
Hope some of y'all got to get out and ply today as well!
