Hello, I just signed up and first post.
I am trying to learn the Manufacture Year of an Iver Johnson 22 Supershot Sealed Eight.
Serial # on Trigger Guard 9631 + one Under Walnut Grip on Frame # L9631.
I bought it in the 1980's, actually traded it for some custom picture framing from my shop.
I have read a lot of forums about Iver Johnson and have come to believe the only knowledgeable source is a book "Iver Johnson: Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871 - 1993" by W.E. Goforth (now deceased). The book is a bit pricey for one I need only to take a quick look at one page. I was hoping someone here might have a copy and take a look for me?
There are a couple of pictures posted in my album (Blue's Pictures).
Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.

Sometimes your library can get books through inter-library loan. I have that exact book coming from another state to our library here in Arkansas.

Thank You Both for the Quick Responses!
My local library is currently not letting folks inside but I'll ask when they are. Calif has a lot closed up these days :-(
Thank you Col. I appreciate your effort and Help!

Mr. Goforth was prolific on several forums and never hesitated to provide information from his research/books. This is from another forum post by Mr. Goforth. Iver Johnson .22 Supershot Sealed Eight | The Firearms Forum :

The super shot was designed as a top-of-the-line product. Iver Johnson produced a lot of low-end firearms. But this series was intended to compete what's the top names. The same can be said for the Harrington and Richardson Sportsman. Fit and finish was quite good in both series.

Mine is in great shape and I love it. I had an issue with the ylinder arbor not being aligned and spitting lead and failure to fire. I remedied the cylinder Arbor but still have the failure to fire issue on double action. I think the failure to fire issues are tight Chambers. The first six fire just fine, but when Reloadeding the fouling in the chambers makes inserting some rounds more difficult than others. I think this allows the rounds to be pushed forward by the firing pin instead of igniting the primer. But I have some work to do to completely figure that one out. It may be as simple as polishing the Chambers.

As an old guy the style fits me just perfect. It is plenty accurate enough for squirrel hunting at closer ranges. I will make mine work no matter what. Would a S&W or Ruger work as well/better? Probably, but not with as much 'Swagger'. At least in my opinion.

Edit to add a picture of mine before the arbor was corrected.

Can you give me a date for serial number L31495?? From Col Harrumph I gather its a second model, manufactured between 1947 and 1954. I just saw another (serial nr L42698) sell at on-line auction for $475. It appeared to be in pristine condition.
