I know that I have asked a few questions about holsters for the 642, but I don't think pocket or ankle carry would really work for me.

What holster do you guys that carry IWB use when carrying an S&W snubbie?????

I live in San Antonio, wear shorts and a t-shirt most of the time, and IWB is really the best option when considering ease of concealment for me.

I await your input.

Desantis 02. It works really well, is very comfortable, and almost the whole 642 is below your belt. Nearly darned invisible.

Thanks for all the holsters you guys pointed out.

M2Steven - is the holster you are talking about the "Tuck This 2"?

Also, does anybody carry a J Frame in a Crossbreed supertuck??

IWB Holster for S&W 642

My all-time favorite IWB holster for smaller pistols is the Alessi Talon Plus. I have never found a more comfortable or functional holster. It has an FBI cant and a excellent nylon clip, which does not scratch up your belt. I have this holster for my S&W 642, my Glock 26 and even my Rohrbaugh R9. I am planning to order another shortly.

Although sadly Mr. Alessi passed away earlier this year, 4 members of his staff continue to operate the company. Orders must be mailed only (No E-mail, calls, etc) to:

If you want to see a picture of this holster, they are still shown at rfholsters.com.

noob question.
Please list all the definitions for acronyms, i.e. IWB, etc. I can't keep up.
Thanks.

I've never cared for a single clip type holster for any revolver, even a J frame. Too thick at the cylinder. I like the value of an IWB from AJ Concealco. Has adjustable cant, draws very nicely. It's as thin as it can be, the price is good and the lead time isn't too bad. I have several of these holsters, one for a J frame and another for a 3" Ruger SP101.

I had the Andrews leather holster for a J frame and although it was VERY well made, I felt it was a bit on the thick side; especially the reinforced mouth. Made it print and on mine the trigger wasn't fully covered. Not a big deal considering the pull on these but still. I have had another of his holsters for OWB carry of a full size 1911 and I think it's one of the best holsters I've ever owned so it's more a matter of personal tastes. With any revolver, I think it's important to do whatever you can to keep the package as thin as possible because you're already dealing with a cylinder buldge to begin with.

I use a homemade in the waistband holster.
I carry it around the 1-2 o'clock position.
See here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=456548

A single clip on the holster will work as long as the clip isn't right over the cylinder.

I haven't started production of my holsters yet because I just got married and am moving.

In the mean time, check out Alabama Holster Company's appendix holster. Thats what I would have bought if I didn't make my own.

Appendix carry kicks butt. It hides real well.

IWB = Inside the WaistBand: the holster goes inside your waistband of your pants, keeping the barrel and most of the action hidden, and exposing only the grip and the hammer. Easy to conceal by simply wearing your shirt un-tucked or some other cover garment.

OWB = Outside the WaistBand: the holster goes outside of the waistband. You get quicker access, but concealment is more difficult (because now you have to hide the holster, too)

Not the best review I've ever read. He could've said "I really like the 642 for CCW!" and you would've had the entire review distilled into one sentence.

Many questions left unasked and unanswered.

Including no hint of what he carries it in (unless I missed it somehow).
