Last month I started having FTEject problems with the Galil ACE in 556. I hadn't cleaned the rifle in a couple of months (I had just been adding lube) so I filed stripped and cleaned it throughly. Still had FTEject, so I then detail stripped the bolt and tried again. The pics document the results: three FTEj out of 30 rounds of GECO 55gr, and two FTEj out of 30 rounds of M855.

Contacted IWI and the rifle's been sent back for them to fix.

That's really weird. At that extreme price point and especially considering the Kalashnikov origins, I would expect it to be flawless. And particularly with "good" ammo.

I'm very curious what they have to say.

The weird thing is that the rifle worked perfectly until about a month ago. I hadn't changed anything down to still using the same lot of ammunition and I just started having these FTEj.

Being an AK, besides the extractor and spring there isn't a lot I can do. If there is a problem with the bolt and it needs to be replaced I'd need a stock of bolts to get a acceptable fit. If there's a problem with the ejector I'm looking at a new receiver.

The good thing is that it's a factory rifle and has a warranty. My losses are a rifle match where I had to switch to my backup rifle, some time cleaning, and 60 rounds of ammo documenting just how bad the problem actually is. I'm entirely confident that IWI will fix it.
