Joan (sp) Rivers has a gun permit?

Just heard on Fox news that Joan (sp) Rivers may be charged for hitting a rental car agent in the eye with a pen. E.D. Bruner the blonde on Fox said this would effect her gun permit.

Didn't know she had a gun permit. Don't know if it's and owner card or a CHL.

Does anyone know how she stands on RKBA? Seems logical that this has the makings of "exposing a hypocrite".

In New York, Snyder says that permits to carry firearms have been issued on the basis of wealth, celebrity status, political influence and favoritism. Permit holders have included such luminaries as Eleanor Roosevelt, Nelson Rockefeller, New York Times publisher Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Bill Cosby, Joan Rivers and Howard Stern. But taxi drivers, who face a high risk of robbery, "are denied gun permits because they carry less than $2,000 in cash."

If I recall didn't Rivers speak for pro-gun issues a few times? I know her having a permit is no surprise so there was something about her that made it an issue a few years ago.
 
If she's pro-gun, that's good. If we can ever get off the "PC" track that intimidates many folks from speaking out, she can become a spokesperson. Imagine Joan Rivers on some talk show speaking as a woman on self defense. The significance of a celebrity's opinion carries more weight with those fence straddlers than the most eloquent speech any of us could ever do - including the laconic witticism of C.R. Sam. Remember, to the liberal mainstream media, we're all kooks, nuts, paranoid survivalists, racists, rednecks bubbas regardless of our race, religion & what not.

Joan and her daughter have some fashion commentary feature in the Sunday newspaper insert tabloid called "The Star". I'd love to see her throw a RKBA zinger in amongst that tripe! :D
 
Since Ms. Rivers is a fashion maven, wouldn't it be great to have her do a program on stylish options for concealed carry? "Now, here's Estelle, modeling a Balenciaga evening gown with a breakaway Velcro panel that conceals a Kahr Arms P9. The slit skirt gives easy access to the tactical folding knife in the stocking top, and the matching purse has an easy-access compartment for her Kel-Tec P32 backup gun."
 
I'd expected someone to figure out by now if she's just an Elitist or if she actually has an interest in the issue. Course, i can't find anything so I guess I shouldn't complain. :D

While I would appreciate anything Joan Rivers did for the RKBA, I think a fashion show might go further with someone like Sarah Michelle Geller.....

Any way, not to hijack the thread, but I have read all the lists of anti-gun celebs, and I have never read her name in any of them.

A couple years ago there was a brief thread on one of the gun forums where she was said to be pro 2nd. I sure hope so.

The point here is not to have eye candy, there's enough of that around. The point is getting a celebrity voice to come out for RKBA. If Ms. Gellar is pro-2nd, I'd love to hear her speak up about it, but her looks are not relevant to the issue.

In this instance I must disagree with you. Ms Geller has a tremendous following of younger people. I believe they would relate and listen better to her because she is a good looking young lady, than they would if she looked like, well like Joan Rivers.
Altho I would like to see Joan Rivers AND Sara Michelle Geller speak up if they are pro 2nd, I believe Ms Geller would have more effect on the up and coming younger population of this country.

Now that would cause some teeth to fall out of Brady & Co.:D Maybe even a few cardiac cases across the good ol' US.

Oh, and...

She also played the role of Kendall Hart, who was Erica Kane's long lost daughter given up at birth due to a teenage pregancy, on All My Children (airs at 12:00PM daily on ABC). The story goes that Erica was raped at a young age by some actor. To keep this firearm related, she probably wouldn't have been raped if she had access to a gun.

Again, don't ask me how I know...
 
Wasn't Sara Michelle Geller also in that movie that recently came out that was a take off on the old cartoon Scooby Do ? I can tell you that I would pay her more attention than Heston.

Eleanor Roosevelt ! That is interesting. Was this before or after she became the first lady ? You got to hand it to a woman that says, I don't need no stinken secret service, I can take care of myself. I wonder what she carried ?

For the record, Sarah Geller has come out publicly pro-gun. Dunno if she has a carry permit anywhere but if she does, I wouldn't call it hypocritical. Unless she bribed her way into it.

Give her a few years, "Buffy" would make a splendid NRA Prez. Given that we'll need a new one next year, she's not quite "seasoned" enough but Drew Carey is :).

Is there a list maintained somewhere that has celeb and politicians gun status? I always see stuff like he/she is anti or pro, and would like to have an Official Source to back it up...

I'm still pissed that Agent Mulder is an anti...wonder what Scully thinks...

I would like to see us maintain a list of pro-gun celebs. Then we can encourage and support them to speak out on pro-gun issues. If we could organize our side like the antis do, it may help in the battle. Celebs can get air time. We can't.

Sort of a pro-gun celeb fan club?
