Jury finds NRA officers violated responsibilities

Getting 'out' of politics JDC., would defeat the entire purpose of it's position as an advocacy group................like it or not it is a path we have got to stay on. JBT well knows it, which is why he's involved with GOA..........another group well worth joining, but even tho they give it their all they do not have the power image the NRA holds!

It is different because most of the NRA membership that I know are honest hard working individuals.

Politicians are like "Skittles", because they are different colors but basically all the same.
Your average Republican voters are not politicians. They're "honest hard working individuals" as you put it. But they sure as heck will defend anti-gun Republicans. Look at how many foam at the mouth when Democrats propose gun control, but defend Republicans when they do it. And excuse it with "something had to be done, at least with what the Republicans are doing. It isn't as bad as what the Democrats would have done!"

The reality is, both the majority of Republican voters and NRA members are politically lazy and apathetic.

At the height of the NRA's power, they claimed to have 5.5 million members. Yet less than 5% of the members on average would vote for the board of directors and the bylaws the board would introduce to further cement WLP's power.

The financial issues with WLP and the BoD is not a recent incident. It has been known for decades. In fact, WLP and Marion Hammer did a coup in 1997 against Neal Knox because he was fighting the corruption back then and they wanted him silenced.

To nobody’s surprise, a New York jury has found that Wayne LaPierre, John Frazer, and Wilson”Woody” Phillips violated their fiduciary duties to the NRA. The jury found former president LaPierre had unlawfully caused $5.4 million in damages to the NRA and former secretary and general counsel Frazer caused $2 million in harm. Although the jury found Phillips breached his duties to the NRA, he did not cause monetary harm to it.

I was surprised LaPierre took the stand and admitted using NRA funds for his personal piggy bank. Defendants in civil cases can normally assert their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent if their testimony might incriminate them criminally.

I am hopeful that the NRA can get back to operating solely in the interest of members and gun owners generally.

Woody Philips was also a convicted embezzler and should never have been hired by the NRA

And Ackerman McQueen was bilking the members out of millions of dollars by laundering money through their firm for NRA management.

Just read WLP's good buy in the NRA magazine. What a joke, no apology what so ever
NRA Board Member Joaquin Jackson in 2005 outright stated that he supports the Clinton AWB.

"I personally believe a weapon should never have over, as far as a civilian, a five-round capacity. If you’re a hunter, if you’re going to go hunting with a weapon, you shouldn’t need over but one round. So five rounds would be plenty ... Personally, I think assault weapons basically…need to be in the hands of the military, and in the hands of the police."

When he passed away, the NRA never mentioned that and instead, WLP said he was a true 2A patriot.

Heck, they never even said anything about him supporting the Clinton AWB.

Next thing you know, there’ll be those saying that she’s actually pro NRA, and was only working in good conscience to get the bad apples out of there.

We (gun owners) should start a public campaign to thank her. She's done her good by helping rid us of WLP, and the next best thing would be to have voters oust her because we're clapping our hands over the ordeal. Personally I've vowed not to send the NRA a dime more than my dues until he's gone, so I guess it's time to put up.

Both guy's are gone, so we need to move on.

The current board that was installed by WLP is not gone. It is still there. Charles Cotton for example is the current NRA President and he was a WLP crony who backed all of WLP's actions.

You want to make change, there needs to be a replacement of the board membership. That means putting people like Jeff Knox there. But Jeff can't do it alone. The BoD is 76 members. Right now, only four folks are running for the board as reform candidates. Four folks who qualified for board elections via membership petition. Not appointment to the ballot by the board's nomination committee.

The board's nomination committee is how WLP got cronies on in the first place. They'd nominate folks loyal to WLP and the board would then advertise those candidates. All while changing the bylaws for membership petition requirements for ballot qualifications.

I know of all this because I tried running for the board in 2018. As have friends of mine like Adam Kraut, who's currently at FPC instead.

I'm a NRA life member and I've been a member since '93. The issues facing the organization isn't just a "one person problem" that was fixed when that person resigned.

I understand where your coming from, but we can only do what we can do at this point which is educate yourself about the candidates and vote if you can.

Yep the members have to be engaged and keep the pressure on keep letting them know you aren't happy with how the board let your money be wasted by allowing management to use you as their piggy bank.

WLP ,his fellow grifters, in the palace and toadies on the NRA BOD will go on trial in late April, 2024. The NRA Foundation is chartered in Washington. DC The perps are charged with plundering and diverting NRA FoundatIon tax exempt funds.

JBT: Harlon Carter is long dead I believe, since '91.......................Charles COTTON is the current president..!

Agreed. "Motive" of the prosecutor matters, but that "motive" does not override the facts that drive the result of prosecution. An ill-motivated prosecutor still mist have the facts needed to win the case. I am certain that many people who lost to a prosecutorlosy because the facts worked agsonst them, not because of the ill-motivation.
I would like to introduce you to Derek Chauvin.

Americans are easily fooled by coordinated media, education systems, politicians and even doctors and “science.” Lots of people are waking up and seeing through the BS but I’m not sure it’s enough to overcome the machine that is our corrupt system.
Unfortunately, this is very much the case. So many people can't tell the difference between good intentions and good results. And the once-great American institutions have almost all been thoroughly corrupted. Rotten to the core. Especially the governmental ones. The whole thing needs to be dismantled.
