Ok - fashion statement - Bar-B-Q - whatever, you need to be proud of what you're wearing. I like all of the short barreled SA's previously posted, but have to throw in one with couple of custom touches from Doug Turnbull.

Food for thought: the .44 Special has a shorter case, so will eject SOONER than as .45 Colt case from the cylinder of a SA.

Which is one of the advantages of the short-barrelled birdshead New Vaqueros in .45 acp. Now there is a short case!

Looks like several posters stole my thought before I even had it.

Love them Bird's Head grips.

OK, I am confused. I always thought open carry mean just that, the gun had to be visible to the public at all times. If that is correct, covering the gun with a coat or jacket or putting it in a pocket would be a violation of the law. Can anyone "unconfuse" me?

I do not know the laws of all states but in some, "open carry" means that the gun owner who is licensed can carry openly in plain view with the gun showing , if he chooses to do so, like it was done in the 1880s in some western states.

Oklahoma just passed a law permitting all licensed concealed carry people to carry "open" if they want to. Each state can determine the laws as well as some local communities.

As stated above each state has their own laws.

But, yes, open carry means it has to be visible.

Here in WI, we have both open & concealed (with license)
I have a license so I can carry either way.

Depends on your state. In TN, it's a pistol carry license. Which is required for ANY type of handgun carry but allows both concealed and open carry. I've been living here in the hills between Nashville and Memphis for six years and have yet to see anyone open carry.

In Pennsylvania we have a LTCF, (License to Carry Firearms) it's not a concealed carry permit. Any one who can legally own a firearm can open carry without any license of any kind because there are no laws preventing it. (as it should be) You only need a LTCF if you want to conceal that firearm of carry it loaded in a vehicle.

IMO all law abiding citizens should be able to carry a handgun if they choose to.

In open carry, does that mean you can walk down the street in down town harrisburg with it?

In Pennsylvania, persons 18 years of age and older whom are not prohibited by law from owning firearms may openly carry a handgun in plain sight with no license except in vehicles*, cities of the first class** (Philadelphia) and where prohibited specifically by statute.
