Just got a letter from the ATF

Last time i checked, cash was a perfectly accepted form of currency, and if i want to pay in cash i can. Guess I cant pay for reloading supplies with my hard earned cash anymore without being considered a terrorist.

yeah, i really think a terrorist is going to be stupid enough to all of a sudden go out and buy gunpowder in bulk.

Remember the guy who went to the flight school and said he wasn't interested in taking off or landing-only wanted to learn how to steer the aircraft? I suspect most terrorists are about as smart as our garden variety of home grown criminals. You know the type-the ones who write hold up notes on the back of their utility bills

Settle down people. The BATFE is not suggesting that any one of the actions they've enumerated is cause for alarm; it's the totality of the events.

A thoughtful and grounded analysis should reveal that some gun control legislation could have been averted (or more likely delayed) if the firearms industry had done a better job policing itself. We'd all like to buy machineguns through the mail, but that's not sustainable politically. Everything falls before public opinion -- the Constitution may delay the inevitable, but it won't stop it. That's not the way things ought to be, that's just the way things are.

If terrorists were to use smokeless powder in an attack (no matter how unlikely or infeasible that may be), rest assured that there will be new laws regulating not just the shipment of smokeless powder, but it's sale, possession, transfer, etc. It would be no time before we'd see laws requiring background checks, fingerprinting, registration of powder buyers, sale only by FFLs, no mailordering, etc. I believe that's what the ATF means when they say:

"Your swift action just might protect lives, property, and our individual freedom."

I got one too. Sounded to me like they were just asking people to use some common sense, heaven forbid.
