Just moved from a house in New Fairfield on Candlewood Lake last year, beautiful area.

Nice state owned outdoor range, Wooster Mt., in Danbury on Rt.7 near the Danbury Mall/Danbury Airport. Wonderful motorcycle roads throughout the area.

You're very close to much NYS border, be extra careful not to cross it when you're carrying. Very easy to slip unintentionally into Westchester Co. and Putnum Co. NY on some of the smaller roads. Cross it, get caught, and you're a felon.

I live two miles from Candlewood lake in NF also.

Small world!

Welcome to CT (I hope).

As long as you did not bring any "assault weapons" or magazines over 10 rd capacity, you should be OK.

If you expect to buy ammunition, please remember to apply for your "Ammunition Permit".

And if you plan to get a Permit to Carry Pistol or Revolver, stand by for a restrictive process that may take several months.

Again, Welcome to CT!

Welcome to CT. I'm sure any of us would be wiling to help you with legality of bringing certain guns into the state. Be mindful that any threaded barrel on a semi automatic pistol is illegal as well.

1st ? why?(lol) was it for work? hard to believe as we lose more obs than any other state I know

Yes I live and work here(not by choice I am afraid)
was a great place to live many years ago before the insanity hit our legislature. Too many insane laws( gun control) and taxes(an everything but breathing and using the bathroom--so far any way)have ruined a nic e place in MHO

anyways--welcome. we do have a lovely coastline and some great shooting ranges

what part of Ct are you living in? maybe we can guide you to a good range

gun permits are not shall issue they are may issue. Each town takes quit of bit of time to issue. Mine too 3 months in2014 now it is 6 months. Fairfield is about 1 year. Many ranges will let you shoot with an nra safety certificate. so you can hone your skills while waiting. lot s of great folks in the shooting community. I really enjoy talking to our older members. hope this helps--welcome

hope you enjoy living here like I used to

great post. your area has some nice ranges and that sweet lake. you warning should be heeded too-I know of at least one wanderer who ended up in NY and had legal issues because of different rules--great point

steve--the ammo permit is a separate issue. If you get a pistil permit you do NOT need a separate ammo permit. Even to buy ammo on the net

CT is a small world kind of place--small state- we all live within 1 hours drive of each other--

would be nic e if all of the 1911 forum CT members could have a get together in a central location(range)
