I've got the exact same gun , even the same year. I've got you beat on price, I paid $188 for mine............but that was new in 1979.
You got a great deal.

Build date was March, 1979. 12ga with 28" VR barrel and fixed mod choke. It's in 90% plus NRA condition and I can't wait to try it out on a few hundred clays! I've owned over a half dozen of these and the wood on this one is gorgeous, better than the others. Oh yea, the best part, I got it for $200 bucks!!! :D

My Father's Favorite Trap Gun! He absolutely loves this gun and style.

That being said, I would suggest keeping some spare parts with you. My Father always brings parts with him to the ATA Shoots cause it has happen where something broke. Obviously keep the ports cleaned, kinda hard to get to up inside. He shoots Rios and they tend to be a very dirty shell and after 400 rounds, the ejector can be a pill.

Hey you can get a shell catcher latch that clips on the side that works awesome! Yeah My Father Reloads too lol.

Good Shooting,

The only spare part I carry is a new rubber O ring. I always have another gun with me at all times... :)

PS: This gun will be lucky if it gets out once or twice a year...

200 bucks!

I've gotten a few good deals in my day but that one beats them all.
Congrats on a great looking 1100.

beautiful 1100! i love my old barn rescue...(only deal I've heard of better than yours, free if I fixed it up) but that still needs some work and to be liberated from my uncle who is jealous of how my rescue outshoots his gun of the exact same model....congrats on the great buy and again, great photo work

here's the actual sales receipt minus personal info at the top. Actually a couple bucks less than $200!!! :) purchased on 02/05/2011...

1100 Rem

I have a 870 similar vintage and great shape also. I would love to find a 20 1100. I used to shoot skeet with one years ago. It never failed.

Grousefeather, the 20ga 1100 just may be the greatest skeet gun ever. I learned to shoot with a 20 bore back in the late sixties...

I was at gun stores looking at shotguns and .22s and I have to say that all the 12 gauge 1100s I saw were marked at over $400. Great find and your good luck makes me actually want to go to the gun show this weekend. Maybe I can be lucky too. Happy shooting!

I have a neighbor who's selling a very similar 1100 for $685! It's in the classified section of our local paper. I offered him $450 and he scoffed at my offer. He said, if it doesn't sell locally, he would post it on Gun Broker. Then I found my little gem. Showed him the reciept and wished him good luck! LOLOL...

Mine was $144 new. Of course that was in 1963. I think the extra barrel was $46, but don't remember for sure. I paid $450 for an absolutely cherry 1966 Magnum model with the rather hard to find 28" Full choked barrel 3 years ago now, and I felt good about that. (I haven't had the energy to figure how many premium non-toxic 3" loads I can buy versus 3-1/2" steel loads for about a thousand dollars) Your deal may belong in Guinness' book.

The guns are worth much more than $200 bucks or so. Just look at the official Blue Book for current day pricing. Look at what a new 1100 retails for, about $75 bucks more than a new Browning Gold. Many consider the 1100 an old albatros, therefore driving prices down and in some cases almost to nothing...
