Now last time I purchased a Colt 3rd Generation Detective special I was told I over paid for the gun. I simply love Colt DA, I think they are the best looking guns around....

That being said, i went to pick up my Python today, looks beautiful, but I saw what appeared to be a first generation DA .38special, but it has been Reblued, has pearl (or pearl like) grips, and is stamped K.P.D. at the bottom of the but. Asking 500 with my employee discount I pay 375.

Is it worth it just based on description? Thinking of getting it on layway tommorow. Also had a 1902 Colt for 1,500 and a King Cobra for 999.99... Made me wish I was a millionaire haha

IMO, a reblued DS minus the stock grips and stamped with non-factory markings is not worth $375.

I also do not think a King Cobra is worth 1000 bucks, unless it is NIB and/or a snub. If the gun is a 4-6 inch matte or blue gun minus the box, the most I would put in it is about $700-$750. If it were polished, I'd likely go another 100 bucks or so higher.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out of "DA" was a typo for "DS" or if there was another gun he was talking about. I don't really know. If it is a model called "Double Action", it must be an antique of some sort like an 1892....I know nothing about guns like that.

Colt used to mark guns like "DA 41" and "DA 45" These are very old of about around the turn of the century.

Also had a 1902 Colt for 1,500 and a King Cobra for 999.99.

I'm ignorant of 1902 Colts, but $1,000 for a King Cobra sounds a trifle pricey to me; that said™, if King Cobras aren't going for that today, they probably will in due time: Colt double action revolvers are extinct.

You'all ain't in California. Those prices would be either going rate or a steal. 6" Blue Python with box and papers here - oh about $1,800. A few older Colts are coming in on C&R, but it's rare.

If you'all have a safe full of Colts, you might want to move here as a "retirement try-out" (establish residency) and sell what you bring with you. Then go back when you decide it ain't for you with a fair bit in the bank account?

Sounds like you did pretty good on the Python... but $375 for a reblued DS with non original stocks is a bit on the pricey side. At $500, I'd be walking away from the seller shaking my head.
