Well finally took my sgl 20 out to the range today. Great gun. No problems at all. Shot POI at 25 meters. Accuracy suffered at longer distances but i think this has to do with shooting technique more than anything. Front sight post covers the whole target at 100 meters. Think I may get a scope. Overall very happy with my rifle. Much better than my WASR10. Any body have any advise for more accurate shooting at 100 meters with an ak with iron sights? I believe my rifle is accuate but maybe i am missing something as far as technique goes .

Something I've noticed is that I don't get a really good cheek weld with the standard K-Var fixed stock. A Vltor tube, Magpul CTR, and 1/4" riser work almost perfectly for me.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the AK's irons just aren't that of, say, a 20" AR-15.

i think i may be just a bad shot past 25-50 meters ha ha. I hear about beople making 4 inch groups at 100 - 200 meters with iron sights. My question is how? I can see maybe minute of man at that range. Maybe i just need a spotting scope for corrections in addition to better technique. I have been shooting and around guns since i was 5 but not sure if I ever developed any refined marksman skills.

I just shot my Saiga today out in the desert. I was getting hits out to 300 yards using a 6 o'clock hold. I have mine sighted so the bullet impacts slightly above my front sight. I hold on the bottom edge of the target and the bullet strikes it. This works for hammering things out in the desert like hubcaps, saw blades, empty propane cans , etc... it should work for bad guys too.

Hope this helps,

Matt

That can be fixed a couple of ways:

Front sight post covers the whole target at 100 meters.

A couple fixes for that too:
