Taliv-

If you set it up to report SI units, it gives mRad, instead of MOA.
mRad are not angular mils, but 1 MOA isn't an inch, either.

o gosh thats so funny im killing myself laughing. now apple has made accessories for everything, now iv seen it all. the day has come wen your cell can tell you more about your bullets ballistics than your local gun shop owner....

but i do respect it and its an awesome idea...its just i dont know excesive here im trying my hardest to figure out MOA wen my new cell can do it for me

I can't see how that thing would be useful at all, except perhaps to a person with cognitive disabilities.

Duke... I am sorry I dont understand. Can you explain how it would not be useful. I thought most shooters used some sort of ballistic computer for long ranges

I downloaded it yesterday. It's pretty good. As something of an Apple geek for the last 20 odd years, I have no idea what you are getting on about, except for the most bottom of the barrel sort of received ideas about people you've never met. But it sounds like the Kool Aid is delicious. Drink up.

Ok... ok I used "Apple Geek" in a non flattering way.. hell I am married to one. Lighten up... I dont think you can argue that a vast majority of Apple users are of the left wing slant.. of course there are some that are not, like yourself. If I offended you I do apologize.

Now can we get back to the app? Tell me how it is useful, Duke says it is worthless because he has a ballistics computer in his brain. Why do you think it is good Lemmy?

Utter foolishness to make such an assumption.

I've been using Macs since the days of the Skinny Macs and every one of my friends that has a Mac is a shooter. I can't say that about non-Mac users that are pals. Using my personal experience I could just as easily say that Mac users are universally pro 2A and PC users are anti, but that wouldn't be any more valid than the assumption that Mac users are anti 2A.

I'd say that's a heck of a handy app for one of the most popular pieces of electronics going and there are a bunch of shooters who'll put it to good use. Pretty good for us.

Yes -- the ballistic computer between my ears.
Finally we agree on something.

I dont think you can argue that a vast majority of Apple users are of the left wing slant
What are you talking about? Apple sells so many things to almost everyone, that grouping people into a catagory of "Apple users" is rediculous. My girlfriend loves her apple products and she is very firmly republican.

I took this photo at SHOT.

Great photo Oleg!

BTW, Oleg has Macs, but then I suppose you'd expect that considering how big a leftist he is.

Note that version 1.1.0, already submitted to Apple, fixes a few known problems. Basically the 'simple calculate' screen gives incorrect data. That screen is not something I think many would use so you won't mind waiting for the bug fix to appear. Funny thing is three people on AR15 only saw that wheel and incorrectly assume you cannot input range directly. You can -- just look at the full compute screen.

i'm trying to think of a caption for it... i might have to get it made into a t-shirt

okay it has the field for angle there.

Is that angle between shooter and target (i.e. shooting from the street at a guy in a 4 story building)

or is it angle of wind?

wouldn't both of those bits of data be more important than humidity?

I guess the only question left is can I listen to music as I simutanously stream live video of me using it?
It is a true innovation. I don't think it field ready for me ut I would love to play with one at the range. It may be a cool toy now, but I would suspect further versions that wouldn't have to support all the other functions. I don't see why, in it's current configuration, it would be necessary to mount it to the rifle. Make it gorilla tough and I'll buy two.
