KAC iPhone ballistic app 'BulletFlight'

The angle is if you are shooting uphill or downhill.

The wind angle is always perpendicular to the shot.

I'm also a Mac user. In fact, I'm posting this from my Intel Dual-Core Mac Pro, so, no, not all Mac users are left-wing bed wetters.

Since when did we need an electric calculator to make a rifle shot?

It's for making precise shots at extended distances. Plainly its not something you'd use for shooting at a short distance of, say, 200 yards.

I've only shot one sporting rifle field match, and found that I needed some help in stepping through the calculations to make some of the shots. All this App does is help to streamline that process.

not all Mac users are left-wing bed wetters

…and not all right-wing mouth breathers are Windows users…:)

But on this forum, people who support RKBA don't need to be calling each other names.

As a left winger who in the past year has converted at least a half dozen former antis to people who understand the 2nd Amendment and see the futility of gun control, I'd ask you to have the stones tell me straight up, if I'm exempt from High Road treatment.

Not that any of this is remotely on the subject of ballistic software for PDAs…

so far, i think i have ballistic software on
all 3 of my PCs
both my treos
my iphone
my watch
...

Can it also be programmed to play Slayer while your shooting? Cuz that would be awesome...

Edited to add:

Also, someone should do one of those iPod ads but with the guy (or girl) holding a scoped bolt-action :D

but can you input your own rifle data, or is it solely dependent on using KAC rifles?

Yes, you can input your own profiles. Very easily.

Can it also be programmed to play Slayer while your[sic] shooting?

No. Applications can not run in the background on the iPhone. But if you have a rail on the right, there's nothing to stop you from mounting another iPhone there. Isn't that what quad rails are for? The tactical kitchen sink?

Lemmy, I was using the term "left-wing bed wetter" ironically.

As much time as I spend on this forum, you'd think I'd remember that irony doesn't often transfer via the internet and not everyone is aware of the fact that I'm a libertarian.

The reporters at Fox News must be hanging out here now :)

Not sure why it made the front page of their website but.....

Is your iPhone or iPod Touch a bit too, well, artsy? Not rugged or manly enough for your taste?

Here's the solution: the Bulletflight ballistics calculator, which predicts the trajectory of bullets fired from high-powered sniper rifles by taking into account half a dozen variables including wind speed, distance, outside temperature and altitude...........

No. Applications can not run in the background on the iPhone.

most 3rd party apps cannot, but the ipod can. so you can play your mp3s in the background and then switch to the KAC program without interrupting the song. i just verified it.

however, does anyone still listen to slayer?

took me a while to figure it out.

open itunes on your pc, go to app store and look on that front page for the word 'redeem' in a menu on the right. enter the code and it downloads.

you do NOT use it in any sort of intuitively obvious way, like say, looking for a box to paste the coupon in when checking out

Thank you. Figures that Apple is clever and lets them only be used once!

Yes,

1. Faster calculation.
2. "Simple Screen" bug fixed where MOA was not updated.
3. Fixed Simple Screen giving incorrect information at all ranges when set to metric range wheel.
4. Stuck readout on Simple Screen fixed.
5. Simple Screen windage can now be changed.
6. Minor changes to output related to +- signs.
7. mRad output now has its own switch on the Options page.
8. Variable wind angle.
9. More default rifle profiles.
10. Sight -in weather can differ from shooting weather and this is factored into computation.

Also please compare the output past 500 yards to other programs. I believe BulletFlight is the most accurate in actual use.

anyone care to write a review between the top two or three ballistic calculators out there? I've been using iSnipe, and it works pretty well. Can't really say for the others. Anyone have comparative experience with them?

rsilvers, not sure if this was what you meant by "8. variable wind angle"

but the "get" angle works great now but did not work at all previously. very cool.

you know, it would be kinda cool if you could put a future enhancement in there that rotates the angle 90*.

some of us aren't going to attach the iphone to our SR-25s but still want to use it to calc dope. when you're just holding it in your hand mostly vertically, it's difficult ot get the angle right since the phone is perpendicular to the LOS.

allowing one to toggle an option so that you could point the phone at the target and look down the flat part of the screen to determine the angle would be helpful to me at least.

i'll try to check the data against my other programs' data soon.

oh, glad to see some more gun/ammo combinations in there.

Pro-gun leftist are some of the most useful for the second amendment because they can reach out to their anti-gun left friends and help them see the light.

Version 1.2 with lots of new features including auto location and weather download will be out in a few days as a free upgrade.

Does anyone know if the barometric pressure input is set for local, uncorrected pressure, or MSL barometric pressure? My watch has an altimeter in it. As such, also a barometer. It can output either MSL or uncorrected pressure. Wondering which I should use.

It wants corrected pressure as it would be measured from sea level. If you have an iPhone it will auto-look it up in version 1.2, out in a few days.
