Kel-Tec Sub 2000 / Good gun but what's missing?

Now that I think about it, a 10mm Keltec sub 2000 would be just about the best danged camp carbine around. Easily folds away for compact storage, but retains some pretty decent firepower.

Definitely a pistol. No way on earth to fire it without the weapon snapped together.

I don't think the design is capable of taking 10mm pressures. It's a pure blowback gun; you can't run a 10mm that way without prohibitive mass and spring force.

When you fold them, doesn't that expose the chamber? How do you keep dust bunnies and other smuts from taking up residence in your chamber when you put one in a briefcase or what have you?

I'm pretty sure the Glock 10 mm is a tilting barrel, blowback, design, that uses a .45 ACP weight slide. That said, I wonder...

We all know what's really missing:

-A RIFLE round chambering. :p

Sorry, I'm just evil. :) But if I had to say, I'd say (a) a suppressor, then (b) an ESD, and (c) a happy switch.

Here is what I did to my 9mm SUB-2000.

I love having the red dot but it does screw up the folding capability. I'm gonna strip the paint and re do it in OD green(the tan came out way too shiny) or something like that.

The front pic rail works great for a flashlight, the VFG does feel pretty low though, most of the time I just take it off and shoot it with either the light or the grip only.

The Kel-Tec mag holder is great by the way. With that I have 50 rounds in and on the weapon(33 loaded and 17 in mag holder).

My next buy for it will be the BFG front sight.

The SUB-2000 would need a metal frame to endure the pressure of .45 ACP. So i'm guessing a 10mm really wouldn't work.

The G21 is a recoil-operated, locked breech design. The KTS2000 is a blowback design with nothing to lock it up except the mass of the bolt/carrier and the recoil spring. 10mm would blow the thing apart. But Brownells sells chamber reamers...you could always experiment with one of the .40 Subs...but I would not recommend it!:uhoh:

Red dot.

The scope mount folds to the side when not in use, allowing the carbine to fold.

I have G17 9mm Sub2K- love it.

Additions include: Blueforce gear charging handle, 1" stock extension, a piece of foam pipe insulation on the recoil tube for cheek rest, KelTec folding scope mount, Tasco scope, Hogue Handall grip sleeve, some Glock 18 mags for capacity, and I load a +P cartridges for it which it loves.
Accurate as a laser at 50 feet.

I keep it wrapped up in an old dry towel and stuck in a gym bag, with the mags wrapped in shop cloths stuck in zipper pockets inside. It looks like a gym bag. I keep a pair of old sneakers and a giveaway water bottle in with it in case somebody gets curious.

Would like to see some pics of Sub2000s with red dots, especially if mounted so the rifle can still fold.

I just recently purchased a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm (Glock mags) and I am happy to say I love that little rifle! It is accurate and compliments my Glock 17 very well. I am looking to upgrade it soon. I bought the Korean made 33-round magazines ($21 each) and they work great!

What's missing?

Ammo. Lots and lots of ammo.

Meant to mention earlier that a Hogue Hand-all or similar grip covering can make the grip more comfortable (YMMV).

A piece of old bicycle tube will work just as well, and the price is right.

What's missing?

A 10mm sub 2000.

Ditto !!!

That is a gun I could love. G20 Sub 2K. I can imagine the velocities would be a real delight. I'd burn through my bank account too fast though.

The Glock is not a blowback... it is a locking breach, just like all other Glocks.

The only thing I added to my .40/glock Sub2k were the tacticool tube cover (a MUST in sub 32F weather!!!) and the hogue handall. Both additions make shooting the sub2k much more enjoyable.

The Hogue Hand All what size or type do you use, is there one for the Kel-Tec or do you use the Glock model?? Ive had a Sub-2000 on order for 2 months now, still waiting........

IIRC the handall is a universal fit, thats the one I used. Just dont buy the handall jr...it only fits small framed .380's.
