To all you lucky Kel-tec sub2000 owners:
First off, know that I envy you. Stock sub2ks are illegal here in CA. Recently, however, I saw a thread somewhere that piqued my curiosity.
In order to make a sub2000 CA-legal you would have to:
(a) add at least .5" in overall length (e.g. recoil pad/muzzle brake) so it is > 30"
(b) fix the mag so that it cannot be removed without using a tool
(c) use 10rd mags only
(d) leave the mag fixed at all times unless the pistol grip is first removed
There is an out-of-state place that does CA-legal mods and will ship to CA FFLs.
This brings us to my question: it is feasible and safe to load a sub2k by loading rounds through the ejection port? IIRC, CA-legal fixed mag AKs use this method, but will it work for the sub2k?
No, it isn't really worth the effort by itself. Combine that with an opportunity to stick it to CA's gun laws, however....
