Been working on this project for a while, took advantage of Black Friday and got some good deals. As delivery times and work got in the way, parts sat in the safe. I got home last week and picked up the final items and finished the assembly today. It’s a kids target gun, at home on a range, local prs match, or open farmland deer hunting off a tripod

with the action I can quickly and easily swap bolt heads and order a different barrel to make a lighter handier critter killer (6mm or 6.5) all while my kids shoot one gun, one scope, one system until they both need a rifle

this weekend is the barrel break in/first shots

Looks good for us 'matured' kids. :)

I'm not so sure an 8 year old is going to scramble around with that guy in tow. More like fixed position artillery.
Fixed position for sure,

it’s pretty handy for what it is, I’ll weight it later but I’m thinking about 12lbs with the can

kids can carry the tripod and I’ll carry the rifle in, set up a good position and then let the tripod hold the rifle

daughter is 10, sons 7 and 3

my 10 year old daughter fired once and said “oh wow I hit dead center!” As she sent a 62grain hornady hpbt into the center of a shoot n c at 100 yds

my 7 year old son enjoyed smacking a 10” steel plate at 200,

full disclosure, these shots are bipod, rear bag or really right stuff tripod with dad coaching,

24.5 grains of tac behind a 75grain ELDM, 2.475 oal with a .02” jump yielded 2830fps avg. I think I’m going to try another few steps up that ladder and see if I can get the SD down from 26.5fps, ramshot data indicates with a long loaded (and throated) 223, 26grains and a 2.5”oal is max at 3000fps

pics for fun

oh and they wanted to try my chassis out before got to, (American rifle company xylo)
