Does Kimber sell their LAPD SWAT model? If not, what is the closest Kimber to the ones the LAPD SWAT team use? Also, does anyone know for sure if the sights are tritium?

kimber's tle II is the same model issued to lapd swat members. AFAIK, they use the standard style frame WITHOUT the rail and use the old style surefire lights. at least that was the case when i bought my tle.

also the sights on tle models are tritium. they are meprolight night sights.

some may argue that lapd's pistols get more attention in the custom shop before being issued. i bought my tle (standard frame and internal extractor) about 900 rounds ago and it has been wonderful.

hope this helps

the kimber tle is the same as the kimber lapd swat model. just different serial numbers are used.

yes to tritium sights.

lapd swat members get two kimbers, one without light rails and one with.

i love my tle, and if i had to do it over again, i'd definitely buy another tle. except maybe in stainless, and hopefully it would have the internal extractor.

there is also a tle with a 4 inch barrel.

if i had a few extra hundred bucks, the kimber custom eclipse would probably tickle me just as well. put the two of them side by side and you can see where the extra money goes.

No firing pin block in the swat guns from my source.
You need a new source!
Maybe you are mixing it up with the Kimber DET1 pistol (to be marketed as the Kimber Warrior.)

The TLE that is sold to the public is identical to the LAPD SWAT guns other than the rollmark and SWAT s/n. LAPD Swat are now issued two guns....one with the rail and one without.
