Any good-but-inexpensive leatherworkers in the house? I recently bought a Cold Steel Oyabun with the 9" blade (yeah, try to find a place where it's legal to carry that!), and can't stand the plastic sheath that came with it. I'd like to have a simple and not too expensive leather sheath instead. I'm not trying to take advantage of anybody's labors and I'm all about seeing that craftsmen get a fair return on their efforts, but at the same time I can't see spending twice the price of the knife for a sheath. Anyone? Buehler?

www.armoralleather.com

I know the guy personally, he's made some medieval armor for me (the breastplate/cuirass that's on the website) and he does a lot of custom knife sheath work.

He's done work for Busse, etc.

And the road to where is paved with what? :what:

(I don't mean to be insulting... but you'll admit I don't know you from Adam. And even if your intentions are indeed honorable, I have no information on your work. And even if it's high quality, no way of knowing whether it would be what I'm looking for. And so on. No offense intended.)

dev-null,
My intentions are indeed honorable but I guess one cannot be too carefull these days, especially on line.
Respectfully, Zeke

Dev,
I stopped making knives on a semi-professional basis about fifteen years ago.
In my knife- making career I made and sold about 200 knives following the designs of Bob Loveless.
I also used the very practical pouch type sheath of Mr. Loveless.
Web site? I dont think so.
You asked, I offered.
Respectfully, Zeke

DevNul,
Be careful what you wish/ask for. You may get it.

Good shooting and be safe.

ps: On a constructive note, try doing a search using Yahoo and "knife makers" or "leather knife sheaths". Should find a number of possible sites.

Dev,
It's time to put the issue to sleep.
I have a quantity of 7-9oz. just waiting to be made into sheaths.
You pay the postage both ways, I' ll make the sheath free of charge.
I have no desire to steal your knife as I really don't need it.
I am an honorable person, let's hook up.
Respectfully, Zeke

Zeke, no offense was intended. I have already made arrangements, however (I didn't even see your post until I'd already discussed it elsewhere). Again, no slight was intended, so please don't take it as one. *You* know you're honorable, but all I had to go by was some letters on a computer screen.

Respectfully,
