I came across this product in an old Knight ml catalogue. Basically it is short tubular plastic adapter that fits over the percussion cone/nipple. A small pistol primer can then be inserted into the other end and eliminates the need for
caps. While both percussion cap and primers havr finally started showing up here on the Texas frontier the idea might be moot. However, with small pistol primers being about half the price of caps it might be something to throw in my shooting bag. Since these things are items of the past as far as Knight is concern, I might try making some test pieces from some harder grade of silicon tubing.

Update:

I went to my toolbox and cut a few short pieces of 1/4" od, .17" id poly tubing about 5 or 6mm in length.
I inserted a CCI Magnum 550 small pistol primer into one end of the tubing in the proper orientation and pushed the open end of the tubing onto the nipple. I made sure that the primer was in direct contact with the nipple.
This works well on my muzzle loading single shot Long gun and pistol and my Le Mat revolver
Cock the hammer, pull the trigger and BANG!.. even the Le Mat dhottie.
Unfortunately the clearances on Colt cylinders wont allow this to work unless I
Shorten the nipple "cone". I havent checked the remmie yet.
While not all THAT time consuming, it does allow primer capping individually quicker than caps.
Also my cb primer cost is cut by over 50%.

This is so you can use pistol primers insted of percussion caps?

Or are you planning a powder change?

I actually have one of those set-ups as a back-up system for my Knight American .50. I've tested it and it works OK. I'd probably use it more if I fired the rifle more often, as pistol primers are easier to come by around here.

The reloading guy at McBrides in Austin clued me into the Knight adapter after I was coming in every week looking for caps (which still havent come in), but he had gotten in a bunch of pistol primers. My Cabelas got a bunch of CCI and REM caps 2 days ago but I didnt buy them out, so I bought the pistol primers instead since they were cheaper than caps. The tubing seems to be reusable. It is a work in progress.

I've been waiting to see if I'll receive the primer capsules for my ROA,and if not this seems like an easy way to make it work.

I have several tins of caps, but if it became nonexistent for a while as it did before it certainly can help keep you shooting! Plus it may open the door to other powder choices.

I was put wise to this trick about a month or so ago by a guy from So. Africa. There are shortages of many things there and they figure out ingenious solutions.
