What magazine options are available on the Gen 2. I'm still looking for a Gen 1 that takes the S&W 59 series mags, which apparently are very rare. Hoping they keep that as an option for the Gen 2. I'd love mag interchangeability between the P11 and the Sub2K;G2.
Either the Sig Sauer or Beretta Gen I versions can be converted to S&W 5900 series simply by changing the mag catch - a +/-$7.00 part from Keltec. The Sig catch works decently with CZ mags as well

Oooh... DADDY LIKEY!!!!!!!!! :D Looks sharp.

Yep. Some additional info from RL (response to another owner)

Thank you for your interest and compliments on our products. We released the Gen2 forend about 2 weeks ago. It is available on our website www.redlionprecision.com under Gen2 Sub2000 Accessories. Basically it is the same as the Forend for the Gen1 but with a few differences. The main one is the endcap is a little bigger to accommodate the latching feature change on the Sub2000 Gen2. Other than that the coupler is slightly different to accommodate the larger square plate on the Gen2 but the rest of the parts are interchangeable.

We don't offer a replacement front sight for the Gen 2 mostly because the factory one is threaded on so it is removable and also is pretty decent.

Welcome aboard, allivak :)

so to clarify....will NOT allow you to fold your sub2000-G2 and lock it completely without heavy modification; even with a relatively small sized optic system???

I had to modify the mount by adding a shim. It wasn't heavy modification, but it required a little additional work. ;)

http://www.thehighroad.org/showpost.php?p=9935636&postcount=60

The Primary Arms red-dot fits well & the S2K G2 folds easily ~ lightly touching the rubber tube cover (sleeve).
Without the sleeve, it wouldn't touch at all.

NOTE: The shim is under the M-Lok offset mount.

oh I had quickly read something about chiseling etc and I just assumed there was at least some non-zero amount of tool/dremel work involved....but either way, I'm seriously considering copying your optic setup including the Primary Arms red-dot(how do you like it btw?) since I am trying to keep this a relatively inexpensive gun.

oh before I forget....what do you guys think about this compensator http://masterpiecearms.com/shop/mpa9075c-combat-muzzle-brake/ for a 9mm Gen2 with the newly threaded barrel?

thanks for the help.

I like the Primary Arms red-dot that I purchased. Not the cheapest ~ but it works well on the S2K-G2. IMHO, the Kaw Valley linear compensator would be better for the Sub-2000 than the Masterpiece Arms unit that you linked, as it directs muzzle blast downrange. I'll be posting a light attachment soon. It would be affected by the muzzle break of that particular style. YMMV. Good luck with your subbie ~ post some pictures when you get the chance :D

Cantilever rail

... I'll be posting a light attachment soon...
The M-Lok accessories from Magpul have become a favorite of mine for the Sub-2000 G2 ~ some arrived this week :)

M-LokCantRail.png (click on image to expand)

This mount worked perfectly; installed beside the Cobra foregrip, it allows a 9 o'clock light attachment that is forward oriented without disturbing grip placement/use.

Inforce light info to follow ......

if you dont mind, would you please share some more insight/opinions on the Kaw Valley linear compensator??? I did read your earlier posts in this thread, but you didn't really talk about the performance of the compensator, how it affected accuracy or recoil, etc...

Obviously I would love to go suppressed eventually, but it would be really nice to get a functional muzzle attachment that can increase performance in 1 or more areas, and from what I've read there is little need for a flash suppressor on a 9mm with a rifle length barrel. so that leaves muzzle breaks, compensators, or hybrid models....either way I'm open to suggestions and I do love the idea of "re-directing" the sound. I definitely could see some of the more traditional muzzle breaks making this gun even more obnoxious to the shooter!

allivak, KVP (Kaw Valley Precision) has a series of videos & a very good explanation of the features of their linear compensator here: http://www.kawvalleyprecision.com/product-p/kvp-linear-blk.htm

I like mine and find it to be useful for what I want my subbie to do; but as always, YMMV. ;)

The accuracy was reasonable ~ I was lookin' for capabilities @ 50 yards & in.
This was from a 20 yard test last month.

Hope this helps.

Inforce weapon light

This 500-lumen unit has a momentary, constant & strobe mode with the capability to disable the strobe function, if desired.
Additional features are 2 lockout systems to prevent accidental activation.
I really like the quick-connect mounting system (no tools required) :)

The Sub2000 will still fold with the light attached ;)

Easy left-thumb actuation from the forward grip position :p

AFG mod.

Next: Magpul AFG modification :what:

The Magpul AFG (Angled Fore Grip) for M-Lok attachment would not work on the lower rail of the S2K-G2, but it will be a good grip for my left meathook, once it's modified ;)

Lopped-off the large end & filled the void with JB-Weld epoxy.

After curing ~ shaped, smoothed & then coated the end with acrylic black paint.

...The Magpul AFG will be integrated later....;)

...on the starboard side just forward of the offset optic mount

The Sub 2000 G2 fore-end is a bit narrow for my large hands.

This AFG addition will help for the aft grip :D

End of thread weight-check

Looks like the S2K-G2 outfitting is about done :neener:

Final weight-check: 5.2 pounds without magazine or sling.

Here's the finished Kel-Tec Sub2000 Gen 2

Thanks for graciously allowing this indulgence.

here is my Gen2 Sub-2000 in 9mm Luger(Glock 17/22 Mag Version)...

I did however pay approx $50 over Kel-Tec's listed MSRP of $500 and it was even worse than that since I also had to pay taxes as I had I found mine by random chance at a truly local store(figuratively right in my backyard)...of course I did manage to save on any shipping and obviously there were no FFL transfer fees involved. Overall I was still satisfied with the price I paid especially because it was a truly local place & also because they could of easily told me they didn't have any in stock when I arrived all the guns were still in the back as they had just received them.

Anyways my future plans/accessories for my sub2k in order of importance:
1. Tactical Flashlight rail mounted underneath barrel
2. Upgraded AR-15 Front Sight Post(Night Sight)
3. Padded Bolt Tube Cover(has Tacticool released the gen2 ones yet? their website says May 2015 )
4. Sling w/quick disconnects
5. Tacticool SUB-2000 Buffer Cylinder(i need to re-read this thread I believe this item has been discussed?)
6. Muzzle Compensator(still havent found one I really like)

any comments, tips, advice, opinions....all are welcome. I'm really loving this gun and I just wanted to comment at how accurate it was straight out of the box.

Congrats on your Gen2

..... Padded Bolt Tube Cover(has Tacticool released the gen2 ones yet? their website says May 2015 )..... Tacticool SUB-2000 Buffer Cylinder(i need to re-read this thread I believe this item has been discussed?)

The bolt tube cover & buffer are available now. When you place your order, specify that your subbie is a Gen 2; I received my order for those items mentioned in June :)

Artofgolf, im going to say it like this. In the past 5-6 years. I have only seen 2 for sale in firearm pages on facebook in maine. I bought the second one. I would have bought the first one i saw. But had no extra funds at the time

That may have been fortunate for you for the long run; IMHO, the Gen 2 is much better than the Gen 1.
The design improvements incorporated into the Gen 2 make it a lot better, especially the front sight and upgraded Zytel material that allows M-Lok attachments instead of cutting the fore-grip for adding modifications.

Let me know how it works out for you :)

I got my Gen 1 at a LGS about 5 years ago for $299. I find it counterproductive to add accessories that add weight, bulk, and complexity to a svelte weapon with the wonderful attributes of lightness and simplicity.

Do we really want or need something like stereotypical 10/22 or AR builds where every available option is thrown on, just because?

To each his (or her) own, but in my mind and for my needs, KISS makes more sense.

thats the great thing about a 4 lb gun that folds in half for quick storage...you can add a few accessories without making the gun a 10lb+ unweildable monster.
anyways, while i do agree to the basic premise of your post, I just want to point out that not everyone with a sub2000 purchased the gun with the intention of going on overnight backpacking adventures or using the gun for a bug our kit or something where weight/agility is critical. so what may seem unnecessary and/or dumb to you on, particularly on a sub2000, it may be someone else's weekend shooter that they enjoy customizing...or simply a fun and unique gun to take to the range.
