I have run acoss an LC Smith 3e.

I see one on GB and one at Cabellas.

The marking makes me think it is a grade 3, and one on GB now has the same engraved ducks on the side plate.

But I do not understand why there is no "goggle" about what 3e fully means.

Thanks!

3E is a grade 3 with ejectors....most likely had birds in an oval on the lock plates...trouble with your description is that number graded LCs ended in 1913....after that they were named...field, Ideal, Speciality, Trap ect....

This is what my book says, but Cabells just sold one that was about $3400, has one now for $2900, and Gunsinternational has one too. So they certainly exist.

Maybe the folks at lcsmith.org can help if provided detailed pics. Heck, maybe we can.

Here is the grade info from their site. There are some pics

Serial numbers alone can't be trusted. Looking at the serial number list, something in the 203,000 range for instance could have been made in 1905 or 1944.

Where is the Hunter Arms Co. marking? On the rib or the left barrel? IIRC, the older guns are marked on the rib.
