I was looking in a Cutlery Shoppe catalog and saw a tomahawk called a "LaGana Tactical Tomahawk". It says they are currently issued to "elite American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan"...

I've seen some film from the desert, with guys having a tomahawk or axe-type tool on their gear - is this what they have?

What do they use them for? I had not seen pictures of modern troops carrying a tomahawk or axe in a long time.

I was looking at this thing as a type of emergency tool for the SUV. It looks like it would be able to break out a car window, in case of an emergency.

Thanks for any info.

You might browse over to the American Tomahawk Company Forum at BladeForums here for more detailed info.

I would tend to go with hillbilly's answer, though. Lots of good hawks/small axes around for notta lotta dough.
