I received a new stock for a AR last week that I am impressed with.

I was ordering some small gun parts from Delta Team Tactical a couple of weeks ago and was looking for enough things to make the cost of the shipping worthwhile. They had a adjustable stock made by Lakota-Ops on sale for $9.99. I have never heard of the company and didn’t find much information on the web so what the heck I ordered one thinking it won’t be the first time I wasted ten bucks.

When I received it I compared it to a Magpul MOE stock I have. I swear they are spitting imagines. It appears to be very high quality and the only difference between the two is the Lakota-Ops has has grooves on the lower brace. I put it on on AR and it has a very tight fit. I mean no shifting or wobble at all.

I suspect that Magpul are making them for Lakota-Ops to sell under their own label. Either that or Lakota-Ops has very good production and quality control.

Generally what concerns me about most of these items, especially polymer based ones, is longevity. And though the price of ARs has fallen precipitously of late each one is a $500-$800 reminder that I could have easily afforded a solid scope or bolt action or bow or reloading gear for the same price. That tends to keep my focus on quality to the point of shying away from the unknown.

I do hope that the stock works out for you and holds up well, I’d be interested in knowing where it stands in say 2021. My next planned AR stock purchase is going the opposite direction, toward a Magpul PRS, the price of which has me sick as I try to be thrifty.

I did not think about it being made in China. To my unaided eye it looks very close to Magpul. I did some web surfing and they have a small product line. If it is not made by Magpul I wonder if they are going to take legal action to protect their patent.

As for how well it will hold up I didn’t expect much for only ten bucks. I am not a “operator” and don’t participate in 3 Gun Competition so my AR’s don’t see hard use which means I am not a beta tester.

It’s most likely future is going to be on a inexpensive build. I only brought it because I was fleshing out a small order to justify the shipping cost.

I only assume that Magpul has many of their product features patented.

Which features would be patented?

Skipping the foreplay here - it’s exceptionally rare for products to actually be protected by patents.

The MOAB is out of stock at Delta.
