Lancaster 3060 rust?

I think I'm cursed. So far 2 of my guns have had to go back to the factory and now I fear I have a 3rd one. I've fired about 300 rounds through my new Lancaster 3060, and now I'm noticing a red type of flaking that looks a helluva lot like rust. *sigh* Here are some hi-red images, tell me what y'all think. Don't worry, I can take it. *cry*

I'm no firearms guru, but I know enough about metal to tell you that is rust. Albeit what appears to be light surface rust, you shouldn't have to deal with that on a brand new gun.

Call Lancaster ARms on that one. Its not a good thing . How come L A is having all these problems one would wonder .

I've never had to deal with this type of issue, and the issues I've had were with big companies like Bushmaster and Springfield Armory. I'm going to bring it to the store tomorrow, but I fear I might get them saying that they can't do a refund/replacement, and that it has to be sent back. Hundreds out the window on a gun that I won't see for months.

I don't know where you live or how old the gun is, but I would suggest a good cleaning and then spray some CLP on it. Let some soak into the spaces between parts. Wipe off the excess and don't worry about it.

The problem is, Lancaster puts many of the parts together and then paints. That's my guess from looking at what's going on.

The obvious reason is that painting first, followed by assembly, would lead to touch up or repainting. The solutions that Lancaster could use, maybe plating parts first, assemble, and then paint would certainly increase cost.

I can understand your frustration, and maybe with enough complaints Lancaster will change the way they process and produce the guns.
