What's your favorite? I'm thinking 10-12" blade or longer. Can you see any practical use for it as a self defense weapon in today's world?

I have to admit to a guilty liking for the Fairbairn Smatchet. What's your favorite? I'm thinking 10-12" blade or longer.
In a way I can, but really most uses of knives for self defense for civilians in the real world involve concealed carry, which isn't really practical with such large fixed blade knives, aside from the fact that there are few places in the US where it would be legal to carry one.Can you see any practical use for it as a self defense weapon in today's world?
Yes sir your correct but I still love the heft of razor sharp cold steel! There are two great advantages of the firearm for defense:
ease of use
distance
In general, if you can stop a threat before it's in bad breath range, this is a Very Good Thing. Blades, even large blades, require closer distance to a threat.
What's great about knives is that a short blade is as dangerous as a long blade in the hands of a trained user
