I live in the liberalized state of Oregon. If you haven't heard 3 of the 36 counties in Oregon have passed a bill outlawing 10+ round magazines for all the rest of us but there is a grandfather clause for existing high capacity mags. I have about a month to purchase high capacity guns and high capacity magazines before the law takes effect. After the law takes effect there will be an additional $65 gun purchase permit tax per gun on top of the $10 background check and a whole lot of headache to buy a new gun.
So what would you purchase with your 1 last month of constitutional rights before they are taken away from you?
I have been collecting for 30+ years so I am pretty well set. My bucket list has been pretty well filled and I really hadn't planned on buying any more guns. But now that I am faced with now or never this is my short list.
Ruger PC charger - I already own a Ruger PC carbine that I purchased before the charger came out but have always wanted a PC charger. I have a couple of the Glock 33rnd sticks and might pick up a 50 round drum.
KelTec CP33 - I do not currently own a good reliable .22lr pistol. I have an old Star with awful sites and on old Mark II that has never feed very reliably. It is either the CP33 or a Mark IV and I am really leaning towards the Keltec CP33 with a brace.
Kahr CM45 - I love my Kahr CM9 and I also love my XDs 3.3 in .45acp. The CM45 is lighter, smoother and smaller than the XDs which I think will make it a nicer carry gun than the XDs. Price is also pretty decent at $380. I had considered a CM40 which is the same size as the CM9 and a little smaller than the CM45 but similar in power to 45acp. I don't own any other 40 S&W, don't load them and really hate getting 40 brass mixed up with my 9mm range brass. So I think I am going to go with the CM45 since I already load for several .45acp pistols.
Diamondback DB9 Gen 4 - I currently own the Diamondback DB9 gen 3 and it is my most carried pistol. It is just the right size for pocket carry. For $270 I can pick up a Gen 4 with the +P capability and slide lock back. I think it is worth it. It will be one of my VERY few duplicate guns.
I will be placing my order through Sportsmans Warehouse and picking them all up at once with only a single $10 background check.
This is a portion of my current collection:
The only pistol that I have left off my short list is a XDM 3.8 in 10mm. I currently don't have a 10mm and so obviously don't load 10mm. I do own a XD mod 2 3.8" in .45 which is my nightstand / self defence gun. I think the XDM would be a little redundant and really kill my already overstretched budget.
I might drive 3+ hours each way to Cabellas to buy a Mini 14 Stainless Ranch that I have always wanted. I don't own a 5.56 semi-auto and have never cared for AR's. Interestingly Sportsmans warehouse no longer carries ANY .223 / 5.56 semi-autos.
