Mykeal, what happens in Michigan STAYS in Michigan.... :D

DJ, now that I know you're merely human your halo is tilted a lot in my image of you.... :D

I've pulled my share of boners too. But I just haven't been at the shooting sport long enough to pull one such as these.

My most hilarious one was with my race bike. I did a panic job on checking the valve clearances and some other stuff. Part of this is putting paper towel waddings down the carb throats to avoid dropping things into them which later get swallowed. The more attentive will realize where this is going already.... So the wife and I go out to a dinner party with the work not quite done. We get home at 10'ish and I hurredly button things up and pack the bike and other stuff in the truck. I start the bike and it starts like normal on the choke but instead of being able to let the choke off and hear the engine clear up it stalls and won't restart. I darn near wear down the battery while cursing at my usually 110% reliable steed. As the battery is close to gasping its last I figure that I must have done something wrong so off with the tank and airbox cover in prep for digging even deeper. Of course I see the gasoline soaked paper towel wads stuffed into place and I start howling with laughter at myself. Out they come, the bike gets buttoned up and it starts almost before I can let my finger off the start button just like normal. I only missed the one practice but it was a humbling lesson.

Don't feel bad BCRider, I did something similar. It involved the fuel line and the breather line, both 3/8th and attach just inches apart.:what: That's one way to clean the crankcase.:banghead:

A buddy of mine and I carefully put together and installed a 350hp/327CID into my '68 elCamino SS... lit 'er off and were relishing in the sound of Cherry Bombs bolted to headers (nothing more) and I just happened to decide to look underneath... SHUT IT DOWN !!!! (I thought you put the rubber gasket ring on the oil filter adapter). Luckily... only two quarts of fresh 30wt. ended up on the deck. Dang, I miss that rig !!

Thats a good one !

Had a Marine sitting next to me at the Range down in Florida, shooting his new BP In-Line , 150 grains of Pyrodreck Turds in it , Saoboot rammed home, forgot to take out the ramrod , Alluminum Rod .
I thought he was just setting up his scope as he peared through it down range , then Kaplow ! :D Knocked his arse right off the bench , with WOW out of him . :banghead: :D
We tracked his rod down out about 75 yards downrange to the right , bent like the the Hitler SS symbol , sweet looking perfect Z too . Could have killed us both .

Pollishing the Norton Motor for six hours with a can of Mothers a hot sunny day after doing a valve check , pulled the oil feeder tubes from the top of my Heads , put them back on ( not good enough ) started the beast to idle up for a ride , went inside to grab my ride gear , came out to a pile of oil all over my pollished engine . Went back inside to pout for the rest of the day .

We all pull Boners , but some are bigger than others . Pays to go slow when dealing with guns , always .

I used to keep this bike spotless and freshly polished/waxed. I can't tell you HOW many times I've done the five hour detail on the bike, only to go for a ride and have it rain ! No garage is rough, and she's showin' her age a bit on the surface... but, still runs strong.
