They work great. if you are going to use them for 9mm Luger cases, you'll need to use a 9mm Markov FCD and not a 9mm Luger. Just google for instructions for 9mm Luger cases.

Can't imagine any need to use a Bulge Buster on any tapered case. Now 40 S&W with almost a straight sided case they are required in my opinion. I use a Redding carbide GR-X push through die on all 40 S&W cases. My pistols and carbines in 40 don't swell brass but range pickups and bought once fired cases need the push through sizer. I've never seen a need for a Bulge Buster for 9MM or 45 ACP.

I think of the Lee Bulge Buster as an economy version of the Redding G-Rx (Glock Prescription) as you have to hold the case atop the pusher as it enters the appropriate FCD...with the Redding, there is a sliding sleeve to hold the case in place so your fingers can't stay out of the way.

The Lee App uses a much better system to align cases for the operation than the more common Lee Bulge Buster

Depends on where you get your brass from. Glocks have loose chambers, one of the reasons they are so reliable, an the cases fired in a stock barrel Glock usually bulge at the bottom of the case creating the "Glock Bulge". The Bulge Buster attempts to remove that bulge, I run all my cases through it before reloading my 9mm's, saves me a ton of time in the long run of not having to deal with a bunch of cartridges that won't case gauge. Some brass vendors roll their brass to remove the bulge before they sell it.

I asked this question a while back. Got mixed reviews. I eventually decided to get one and try it out on 9mm. I checked the results against a Wilson case gauge, which I got per Walkalong's recommendation. He was right about the gauge, it helped a lot in determining what would feed and chamber properly. In any case, I did a before and after with the bulge buster, and it does save a few cases that the forming die doesn't quite get.

I also used the gauge to tweak the dies on the press. I thought they were good (actually, the Lee forming die I have is ever so slightly too short for my 550), but I changed out the lock nut and got about another turn out of it. That also helped with proper sizing of the cases.

Gary, definitely appreciate the feedback. I've never had too much trouble with 45 acp but, I'm going to start loading 9's and have been told by many that it can be a real issue, especially with Glocks and any others with that design of chamber. Thanks again!

I use it on 9mm Luger and 40S&W with great success. If it doesn't clear my cartridge gauge (or plunk test) it goes through the BB.

This:

You've got the correct equipment Chillydog.
I bought the Makarov carbide Lee Factory crimp die to run the Luger through. Did I pick up the wrong die?
