Went out yesterday and sat a trail until about 10:00 and then went to check my cameras. I was at one of my feeders that has been out for about two weeks at 10:30. Guess what was at the feeder an hour before? Not one, but four legal bucks. I might have to bust the biggest 8 point , but I need a better look at him. At least there are some decent bucks to chase next year. I might go out this afternoon. It is the last day of our 3 day Christmas season. Maybe I'll get a look at that 8 pointer. 2 of those are definitely shooters but good for you to leave them for next year.

Where are you hunting?

North Central Arkansas. I have passed bucks for 4 seasons waiting for big ones, but this year was really tough. I didn't see many bucks and didn't have many on camera until now. They are still feeding on acorns and the feeders only pull a few does. I'm starting to see a little more activity around the feeders lately. Every deer that I have taken this year had to be hunted. The feeders only fattened the coons.

That sounds a lot like last season for me.

Not trying to poke fun or insult, but I find these 2 sentences very interesting. Clearly I'm in a different world in the North Woods!
I'm not familiar with your area. Back when I started hunting deer in the 60's there was no baiting. You scouted trails, located rubs and scrapes and tried to pattern a buck. Back then it was Bucks Only. We now have 2 generations that only know to sit over a feeder. If the deer are on acorns the kill stats go way down. I know that some northern states and areas in Canada permit baiting. I think that is the norm in Texas, but I would never pay $5000 to shoot a buck over bait. Don't get me wrong. I have shot a dump truck load of does and a few bucks over bait, but that was cropping herds to get them back in balance. I much prefer the old ways.
