Gun Safe???

Gun Safe??? Who needs a gun safe??? I feel the Gun is safe on me....and that Im safe with gun with me. If you got the nuts to come in...then you wont have 'em when you leave... And if you can find the guns than good luck finding the ammo...but either way I will get to them before you will...oh and I hope whoever can walk without a knee.

Final Thoughts/Tips...
If you know Im home and the door is unlocked...that should be the first sign to let you know something is up. If you think your gonna sneak up on me in my sleep...I hope you dont scream too loud when I come out of the shadows.

Sorry if my post seems a like a flame...No harm was ment in the making of this post.

Well like I said...when Im not at home...the gun is hidden very well (secert spot)...or with me.

Here's mine:

It's a Cannon C23, and occupies a substantial volume in my closet (which also doubles as my pantry and ammo hoard). Hooray for small studio apartments. :fire: Note the ancient, yet functional, Eureka vacuum cleaner. I think it was made in the early 80s or so.

I keep my blinds closed all the time (keeps out the Arizona sun), the door closed and locked, and from the living area the apartment looks like a frugal college student's place (IKEA furniture, used microwave, desk with computer and telephone, etc.). Posting a photo of the safe itself doesn't really worry me, as I doubt anyone except two of my neighbors (who I trust), my girlfriend, and I know where it is. Even then, I doubt anyone would be able to steal from it, considering how attentive my neighbors and apartment management are to strange people and noises.

Here's the interior:

The small Sentry safe isn't much, but I use it for storing my Gem-Tech silencer. It's mostly to keep stuff from hitting the silencer rather than to keep people from stealing it. Still, I'd imagine that it'd be somewhat difficult to cut into the Cannon safe and extract the bulky and heavy Sentry one, just to get at its contents.

Hmm. I need to refresh my silica gel dessicant.

Rembrandt Pictures...

Can anyone tell me what the two revolvers are in Rembrandt second picture? And also those grips sure are cool and I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind they were and where I can find some. Thanks.

Both are S&W revolvers, the snubby is a model 60, other is a Performance Center .44 mag. Grips are laminate hardwood with engraved images. Available from Smith & Wesson.

I wouldn't like a key, except as a backup, since they are misplaceable.

Either of the others would be fine as long as they were well executed designs.

I'm think of building a huge DIY safe once I get a lathe and mill up and running. For that sucker I'd probably get a Kaba Mas X-09. :D

This is great!...

I only own one pistol so far, and XD40SC. Me and my wife were just having the "you wouldn't buy a gun just the have it, would you?" talk last night and showing her pictures of some of these safes I think has justified me into many more purchases before she starts to get concerned. What a great thread!

If you can fit your collection into a gun safe or two, you don't have nearly enough guns. :neener:

I dont have a safe, but I have this:
http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602007-cat20799_TGP&id=0005602227349a&navCount=2&podId=0005602&parentId=cat20799&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20799&hasJS=true

its next to my bed in my bedroom. I picked it up from cabelas 2 days ago. The reason I opted for this instead of a heavier safe is that this will keep my arms out of reach from my brother, and I will still be able to get to them if anything goes down.

Today I got this: http://www.sentrysafe.com/products/productDetail.aspx?s=169.

I'm moving to VA for school next month and will be living in apartments for the next five or six years (I'll have roommates for at least the first year). Also, I purchased my first firearm (Glock 23) this week, so I'm not in need of a big safe yet.

I'm considering returning it tomorrow. There's nothing really wrong with it, but I'm rethinking what I need a safe for after reading some posters' comments. My one firearm will be my carry firearm, but I'll want to lock it up when I absolutely can't carry it such as when I'm on campus (still debating this). I paid $120 for it but think I could get something smaller yet worthwhile for much less (i.e. a pushbutton lockbox with enough room for the firearm itself, not its box).

I'd like something that can deter burglars (no safe is completely safe, so in my opinion a burglar would have as much trouble as they wanted going after this $120 fire safe as they would with a $65 lockbox), turn curious roommates away, yet give me easy access.

I'm considering returning it tomorrow.

Excellent plan. You don't want to store your handgun in that safe. Document safes + firearms = rusted firearms. If you read the owners manual for the safe, it will also mention not storing firearms inside of it.

You're absolutely right (but I don't have to tell you that).

I'm going to go with either a DAC SportSafe, a GunVault, or possibly an R&D Handgun Safe. I prefer these designs to the typical run-of-the-mill document safe in that they are much smaller. I'm interested in hiding and cabling it when I move into an apartment.

Brand new safe (my first), delivered yesterday. I got it for $700 because it fell off a truck and got scratched up a bit (which buffed right out).

(before anyone asks, yes they are bolted down)

i'm about to move, waiting on that before i get a big one for my rifles
