This guy had a broken brow tine making him a 7 point. Still a trophy in my book.

First whitetail I ever got was a 7 point; biggest was a 10 point, along with a bunch of others in the 4-6 point range. Have never got an 8 point whitetail buck, ( not yet, but I'm still working on it). I have, however, harvested an 8 point mule deer, (AKA a 4x4 by western count), after an early season Wyoming snow storm way back in late October, 2006. Not a monster, but the biggest, (and only), 8 point I have ever gotten. . For all the ballistic nerds out there, it was done with a 300 WSM handload launching a 150 grain Nosler Accubond that averages 3207 FPS over the chronograph. That's my "pet load" for that gun, and it hits hard; he went down in his tracks with one shot. I later stood in the buck's tracks in the snow where he fell and my buddy stood in my boot prints at the firing point and lasered it at 192 yards.

I don't suppose this one counts, but here's the biggest I've ever seen in person. I was at the gym on campus (where the deer are quite comfy), and was casually looking out the window when this guy casually waltzed across the grass...

Never took what I consider a big deer. I have several 8's in the 100-110" range. I did get to measure one for a friend that scored 152 gross. It was a 8pt with a 19 1/4" inside spread. To add insult to injury, he shot it 1/2 mile from my house. I was driving 30 miles to hunt.

Once again, this guy isn't so big. The 'rest of the story' is that I tagged him with my great-great-great grandfather's original caplock rifle.
This deer was taken by me, on family land purchased in 1852.

168” after 1.5” deductions in 2012 Illinois. Archery kill about 100 yards behind my house. Scrap of velvet remaining.
The first one euro mount looks weird because he was still in velvet early October NW Illinois also. Old SOB

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around that being a 168"..... it must be much larger than it appears. Do you have the score sheet or measurements?

I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around that being a 168"..... it must be much larger than it appears. Do you have the score sheet or measurements?

He was very symmetrical also with only 1.5” deduct.
