Hello all THR friends. C'mon, let's show our .22 target revolvers. The rules are simple: 4'' or more barrel and adjustable sights. Every type of action is admitted. I'll start the thread with my Weihrauch HW9 Target Trophy.

OK, I'll play.

Here is my S&W Model 17-3 that I bought brand-spanky new in 1975. Still have the box and all the goodies.

A K-22 Masterpiece, the fore runner of the Model 17. This one shipped in 1950.

A K-22 Outdoorsman that shipped in 1935. Note the teeny screw for windage adjustment, as opposed to the large screw on the Masterpiece. Also, the lack of a barrel rib. Note the original Service Grips.

This one is my favorite. A K-22 Outdoorsman that shipped to the Providence Rhode Island police department in 1932. Probably used by their pistol team, according to Roy Jinks. Many years of shooters resting their trigger finger on the frame resulted in the loss of blue above the trigger. Replacement Magna grips. I don't care, this one is the most accurate of all my 22s.

A Model 17 with an 8 3/8" barrel. This one shipped in 1963. I don't really care for the extra long barrel, it makes it very muzzle heavy.

Here is something you don't see every day. A pair of 22/32 Heavy Frame Target revolvers. S&W built these were built on the smaller I frame, before they began making the K-22s in the early 1930s.

The one at the top features Bekaert Grips, named after S&W distributor Phill Beakaert, who thought it would be a good idea to build 22 target revolvers on the I frame. The I frame was smaller than the K frame, it was the fore runner of the current J frames.. These revolvers were built on the smaller I frame. They were called Heavy Frame because up to that time the only 22 caliber revolvers with swing out cylinders S&W was making were the tiny M frame Ladysmiths. The one with the Beakaert grips shipped in 1940. The other one shipped in 1923.

Let's not forget Colt. The big Officer's Model Target at the top of this photo shipped in 1935. The little Colt Police Positive Target at the bottom of the photo shipped in 1936. Notice both revolvers have rear sights adjustable for windage by drifting them left or right in their dovetails. The front sights were adjustable for elevation using a screw at the front of the front sight.

Here is my S&W 17-3. I bought it to scratch a K22 itch that I carried around for years. When I was in high school my Dad came home with a K22 “Masterpiece” with an 8 3/8” barrel with stag grips. I loved that revolver. After he passed my Mom asked me if there were any of my Dad’s guns that I wanted. I told her “Yes, I would love to have that S&W .22 that I used to shoot in the backyard.” She sent me his High Standard Sentinel Mk IV .22 Magnum. She gave the K22 to one of my Dad’s friends. :(

Anyway, I bought this 17-3 at a Cabela’s in Oregon in 2016. I paid $650 for it. A high price to some that seem to magically find collectible guns for almost free. :p I guess that price ain’t so high now, is it?

It’s the only “target” .22 I own and it is a favorite gun of mine.

I love that Barlow. I saved some money and bought one when I was in about 4th grade.
It was my EDC for many years after that. Always with me. Even at school! My how the times have changed.:(

OK, here's a kit gun for all you show-offs to drool over. Gives 1.5 inch groups at 10 yards when I take my time.
Hi-Standard 1363740.jpg
Delivered about 15% FTF's when I bought it last year, due to a tired hammer spring. Replacements not available, but I found a 1/4 inch spacer at the hardware store and stuffed it under the spring. Goes off with a loud bang now.

BTW for anyone wanting to know how to re-install the hammer spring: PM me. I read that Hi Standard made money charging for that service back in the day. (I'd make a video if I knew how.)

A K-22 with target hammer and trigger but not correct grips. Wonderful shooter.

Colt Official Police. Been around the track a few times but another nice shooter. Only likes Winchester Wildcat in DA for some reason.

H&R 999 Sportsman. Trying to like it but jury is still out. Rear sight adjustment is fussy and loosens too easy.

Last one- a German parlor pistol, single shot Flobert .22 but you can shoot .22 shorts instead. Accurate too. Sorry, not a revolver.
The rest of my .22s are autos. In search mode for the right Colt Officer Model Match in .22.

I can't play. The only double action 22 revolver I own is a Rossi Plinker. It does have a 6" barrel, adjustable sights, and a very nice trigger but can't hang with the big boys in the accuracy department. It is a fun coke can killer though.
I am the OP and I establish with an incontrovertible decree that you can play :D
Pics, pics, pics!

I bought this Rossi Plinker off gunbroker super cheap. I’ve never been lucky with used guns and this is no exception. It hit 4’ low at 10’. I took the rear sight off and when I reinstalled it it became adjustable. Now it is dead on accurate. The FF.L that did the transfer said he could sell it for double what I paid. I love it. 83261.jpg
