Box from Beaverton arrived today according to the ol lady. Am at work so check when i get home.

Dunno if they fixed the old one or swapped for new. If the issue has been resolved then it took one week

Just got home and checked, same serial # and the crud on edge is gone.
Doesn't say what the prob was, just that mechanically and exterior has been checked and all is good.

Now to slap it on my Steyr Prohunter and see if it works.

That's interesting, every scope I've sent in, I've gotten a call about what was wrong, and what steps they were taking. Could be that since I have a po box they need to check that tho, cause they always ask about it.

also why do guys get cheap glass on nice guns it’s money well spent imho ymmv
I’ve never understood that philosophy but have seen POS cheap scopes on some pretty nice and expensive rifles.

And is it really likely that I’ll miss out on a shot of a lifetime because of the quality of any of the scopes I listed?
I feel it is possible with the Rifleman, and there is a reason it doesn’t have the gold ring.

The rifleman looks to have a bell/ front tube that is one pc,maybe hydro formed ( comparable profile to Redfield Rev. ).

I wonder what lens coating is used. Maybe like the old vari x 2. Full coated but not w Multi Coat 4.

the rifleman also has friction adj, not click ( Rwdfield Rev has click ).

So my guess is if you are running an old vari X ii and content, youd be content w a Rifleman.

Note that the Rifleman was sold at Walmart. To differentiate, as their econo line.....maybe the gold ring was left off.
It says " rifleman" on the objective end and iirc there is a thinner gold ring.

Id say they are fine, if you want vari x ii type optics.

Ark loads of critters have been killed w such inferior glass LOL

The issue isnt one of durability IMHO.....its what glass/ coatings and features are you willing to pay for

If the " rifleman" lettering on the objective was subdued like the other Leupold stuff....
Id buy one for a part timer

They look aesthetically in shape and lock ring, better than the new Freedom stuff.

However, ive gone click on everything except my old 760 which has a kinda sorta period correct scope ( M8 4x compact ).

Ditched my Vari X ii 4-12x AO and that rifle now wears a click adj VX1 3-9x ( last of rhe vx 1 ). Ok have a 2-7x also laying around.
Have two freedom vx and am trying to upgrade to vx3i .

See how this new one does. If happy get another to replace vx1 3-9x

I dunno if the Rifleman and Redfield Rev stuff is hydroformed tube or not up front.
Just looks like other brands that have used the technology
