Not necessarily - not unless the rear leaf sight interferes with using the aperture tang sight. My Shiloh Sharps .45-110 has a tang aperture sight as well as a "ladder" type rear leaf sight.Guessing the rear leaf sight will need to go?
i use them on my 1892 winchesters, i sight the open sights on a 75 yards and the tang sight 125 yards, works well with the 38-40,44-40.
While they’re really nice to sight through, I’ve never really liked the tang sights for that reason. The peep sights I have on a few lever guns are all mounted on the receivers. Those seem very interesting- but don't they get in the way of your firing hand?
It depends on the stock and the mounting. Most of my rifles with tang sights pose no issue. When I had the Marble on this rifle it sat back a little more and I laid my thumb along side of it. I’ve read that that’s more conducive for better accuracy anyway. YMMV.Those seem very interesting- but don't they get in the way of your firing hand?
