Although I'm pretty tolerant/adaptable to different control layouts, my wife just doesn't seem to enjoy shooting a semi-auto pistol unless the controls are in the old 1911/BHP layout. That means: frame mounted safety in a down-to-fire orientation so the thumb can ride it; slide stop/release lever above the trigger on the left side; and mag release at the corner of the trigger guard and grip.
I'd like to see if we can generate a list of all the pistols that match that format. No safeties on slides, nothing that lacks a safety, nothing with a decocker, nothing with a mag release on the magwell, etc. (Sorry Beretta M9, HKP7, Glock, etc.)
I'll try to start it off:
1911
Browning Hi-Power and clones
CZ75B (non-decocker)
EAA Witness
Armalite 24
Browning Buckmark (.22)
