I am new to reloading so bear with me. I am loading .44 Rem. mag for both rifle and pistol. I fail to see the reason for such a range of loads for bullets of the same weight and general shape . ie; Barnes 225 grXPB (18 grs 2400) vs Speer 225 gr JHP (24 grs 2400). 225 grains is 225 grains and 2400 (Alliant) is 2400.??????????????????

Barnes Solid Copper Bullets DO NOT TAKE THE SAME LOAD as conventional lead jacketed bullets!

Go to the Barnes' site and read what they say!

Two idenitcal-weight bullets - one jacketed lead, the other solid copper, are definately going to have DIFFERENT weights of powder to obtain the exact same velocity! I believe that is part of the reason Barnes puts so many grooves (cannelures) in their X Bullet!

Someone correct me if I'm WRONG!

By the design of the bullet, bearing surface, jacket material; you have a tremendous range of friction coefficients. The Barnes bullets have a design unique unto themselves. Read the manufacturers guide lines and adhere to the advise given. Failure to do so can have disasterous effects.
Did I hear a "KABOOM"?
