all i have ever used in my first and second gen saa 45's is black powder. and recently just finished shooting two box's of sutters bullets through them. 500 each, smokless lube on all of them.
i really cant tell much difference between that lube and black powder lube. it is mostly all in the barrel and that part of the gun is so easy to clean anyway.
use boiling water and bronze brush with a patch wrapped around it to create a seal to draw that water in. plunge in and out several times and it's clean. to me it cleans just as easy as bp lube did.

Hi Pete D.

You sure aren't kidding about that. From what you describe, it must be dry as a bone. If I don't clean my guns here and now, I get rust within the day.
Where is the dry place?
Pete

Las Vegas, Nevada

Used to definitely be arid here...greatly less so now a days though with all the people, yards, pools and other stuff.
