How are you finding OAL for a 9mm carbine? Any powder/bullet weight recommendations?

While I do not have any 9mm carbines(.357,.44 and .45ACP), I have found that loads and OALs designed for use in handguns of that caliber work very well. Same goes for bullet weights. Seems that standard for caliber bullets shoot the most accurate out of mine, while those that are significantly lighter or heavier are not as accurate. Unlike their bottle necked long gun cousins, it does not seem that distance to the lands is as critical in PCCs.

JME and JMTCs.

I can say on the 38/357 I have a different loading from the hand guns. It will shoot the "normal" handgun loads just fine, but tuning the ammo to the specific gun is always going to give you a tick more. I want to say the 38's a bit longer and warmer, and 357 a tick short and softer.

In my .40 K-T/Sub2K PCC the same loads that were most accurate in my SA XDm 4.5 are most accurate in the PCC. They all FFF 100% so far.

I shoot the same loads in PCC’s and lever actions as in my pistols. Don’t have to keep ammo separated. Same loads that shoot well in my pistols shoots better in my rifles. Added PCC’s to my collection later and saw no reason to work up separate loads. Two PCC’s in 9MM, one 45ACP, one 40 S&W, and .one each 357 and 44 Mag. I use 124 gr RN and HP’s in 9MM, 165’s in 40, 230 gr RN and HP’s in 45ACP. 158’s in .357 Mag and 240 gr in 44 Mag.

Make sure you have a good crimp. BTW what specific PCC ?

Wide mouthed HP's ( SIG V-Crown ) tend to jam, and setback the bullet, in my Colt Pattern PCC's

Aluminum cases do NOT offer enough crimp. ( Too slick , and while I realize alum. cases aren't common, there are alum. primed pulldown cases available )

And poly-coated bullets lead bullets can also not hold a good enough crimp.... and bullet setback again.

I will probably end up with either the S&W Response or FCP. Thought about throwing together a PSA upper/lower but i have 10 M&P mags already.

RMR 147 Match winners and Tite Group - just enough TG to make Power Factor in my guns + a few FPS
awesome for USPSA and Steel Challenge

All I really did was make sure my 9mm pistol loads plunked in the barrel, and went to town. A 124 RN or 124 RMR Match Winner with either Sport Pistol, N320, or HP38 all work quite well on my wife's Ruger PC Carbine. It REALLY likes the 124 Match Winners with N320!
