Locked Gun Safe Problem

My late son was a licensed gusmith in NC. When the building in which his shop was located was sold, he was evicted and had to place everything including his huge Vulcan gun safe in storage. The safe is locked and he passed away without ever having revealed the electronic keypad combination to anyone. My younger son plans to replace the dead battery but is afraid that experimenting with possible combinations will cause the safe to lock up permanently. We have some very long, sophisticated looking keys that we think might relate to the safe but so far have not located a keyhole. The safe not only contains guns belonging to my late son but also weapons which he was repairing for clients. We are working with the County Sheriff who has received calls from some of my late son's clients in an attempt to get their weapons back to them. While my younger son has contacted a locksmith in the Spartanburg, SC area he has indicated that without the combination the only way to open the safe will be to drill it. The safe was expensive and we have a possible buyer if it remains in good useable condition. I have tried to locate a Vulcan company on the internet without success. All help regarding ways of opening the safe without damaging it will be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If there is a keyhole it will be under the electric pad. Have you tried to remove it? Normally it will spin off to the left with about an 1/8 of a complete turn.

That is of course if the skeleton keys are for that safe.

A locksmith worth hiring will be able to repair the safe after drilling it. Unless you feel lucky guessing. . . pay up to drill it.

Thanks for the suggestion. We will be going back to SC this coming week. I'll let you know what we find.

Look at the keypad and note which numbers have the most wear. I did that with my buddies safe and you could tell which six number comprised the combo. The numbers may be a birthdate, anniversary or some other number that may have meaning to your son. Good luck.

Condolences for your loss.

You should be able to contact the manufacturer or a sales representative and using the make snd model get some sort of instructions on how to open the safe.

If that is not available I would look for someone who is a bit higher than the average locksmith and has experience with vaults. You might have to provide an affidavit along with the Sheriff Dept that you are who you are and such.

Does this look like what you've got?

Appears it's Chinese made and the URL shown in the video is that of a Canadian fire alarm company. Drill it.

The keyhole on some safes is under the keypad. On others the emergency keyhole is under a cover on the keypad.

Search for your specific safe model and see if you can find the user manual online.

Posting the specific model might enable someone to better assist you.

Good luck and sorry for your loss.

good luck on getting that safe open , seems like soembody should be able to help you out with that .

Sorry to hear about your son, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family .

You have my condolences for your loss. Losing a family member is always hard.

As to the safe I would call the company that made it and explain the situation. They should be able to offer you a solution.

Sorry for you loss!! Even if they have to drill a hole, that is an easy fix by just welding the hole shut and paint. In the military we used to have to drill them to open them and then reset the combination and weld the hole shut.

I guarantee you if it is electronic, there is a way to bypass it or otherwise compromise it.

Contact LPL as above and I bet he can tell you what to look for......

Condolences on the loss of your son.

Hey Rodolfo, can you tell us if you ever got the safe open? Did you hire a safe cracker to open it? Have you got it opened yet? What have you told his customers who are awaiting their guns returned? You made the post and you have been advised with good information, now let us know what has taken shape. Either let us know of don't post seeking information of a problem. I for one would like to know what has transpired.
