Hi, I'm new to the forum as well as long range shooting. I am not an expert and rarely claim to know everything about guns. I just started hunting last year but have been shooting since I was a kid.
I just bought a 'new to me' rifle (with about 80 rounds through it) from a friend in need of some money. It didn't feel quite right when I was shooting; I had to hold my head up over the stock to see through the scope. So I modified the stock. I would have bought a new stock but I'm a poor college student.

It's a Savage 10fp .308. The stock has about 5 lbs. of weight added in the butt of the stock. I added a piece of wood to rest my check on then shaped it with bondo. After all the sanding was finished, I then repainted the gun. It weighs about 15 lbs with scope and Harris bipod.

I originally was looking for a hunting rifle that would put a deer down out to 600 yards. I ended up with a 15 lbs bench rest shooter (at least it would be a bear to pack on my shoulder all day).

hi guys, new to the forum

I had a chance to run a few rounds through a members Nemesis, seen below, its a lovely rifle, folding stock and fully adjustable much like the Brugger and thomet APR and pgm line of rifles in terms of chassis and assembly. it was very comfortable to shoot, a strong push but otherwise not what you would expect from the 50 besides the normal blast. its swiss made.
i felt the Tac 50 was more punishing and since it lacked a cheekpiece and monopod it felt less steady compared to the nemesis. when the moderator on the big mac was on, it felt even stronger on recoil. the nemesis is also fitted with a custom brake.

some pics at 1100m.
the nemesis is now being reloaded with some of lutz moller's machined solids but i still dont know the results of these reloads and 750AMAX are not always available in europe.
another guy next to me was placing his unique alpine through its paces, its chambered in a 300winmag and did very well, i counted about 7 consecutive hits out of 10 at 1100m.

here i was sending express mail through the Steyr 50bmg, did pretty well with this at 1100m, 3-4hits

my favourite still remains the Sako TRG 42, the one i tried was wearing a Zeiss 'hubble' scope with the huge 72mm. loads were lapua scenars 250grains with rws brass and it got the most consistant hits at the distance. conditions where roughly 3-4mph from 10 o clock
enjoy

3rd set of 3 bullets EVER shot out of the gun. In other words they were the 7th, 8th, and 9th bullets. These were cold bore shots.

Built on a budget with the best parts my (limited) money could buy

Rem 700 30-06 long-action, Brux straight taper heavy barrel, Bell and Carlson stock w/ aluminum bedding block (and skim bedded), custom ground recoil lug, Mueller Tactical 4-16x40 Illum Mil-dot scope, Leupold Mk4 rings on snipercentral.com 15 MOA bases, Tac-ops cheekpiece, harris bipod.

Action work (and other work) done by Billy Dale

I've managed some better groups with handloads, but no picture handy
