I'm buying a S&W 624, it's on lay-away now, and I'm looking for the appropriate bullet in the 180-210 grain range.
I really like the 200 grain button nose designs, but all of them I've found have been hard cast.
I do have some swaged 240 SWC's to get me started, but I like the well defined shoulders and sharp edges of a good cast bullet.
All my usual suspects like Magnus and Meister offer hard cast only.

From what I've been reading, a BHN of 9-11 should be about right?

Can anyone recommend a commercial caster that carries soft cast?

Years ago I shot Magnus bullets in .44 Spl with no leading. They were a good fit for the throats and worked fine. I have no idea what BHN they were, but it was most likely over 12. I also shot my own water dropped cast 208 GR WC's from a Lee mold using wheel weights with some 95/5 solder thrown in. Again, most assuredly over 12 BHN, but shot great with no leading.

I would not be afraid to try the Magnus, or similar brand, of cast bullets.

Missouri Bullet makes a 200 Gr .44 caliber 12 BHN bullet that should work great.

It is similar to this cast bullet I shoot in .44 Spl with no problems.

I prefer 240's and 6.5 grains Unique in my M624's.

However I have a M431 that only shoots to point of aim with 200 grain bullets.

I developed some loads with commercial cast bullets of 13 BHM. The problem I had, and always had, those 200 grain bullets lead. I don't know why, maybe the grease groove is too small, but I can't push them too fast without some leading.

I stayed with the 6.0 grs Unique, it shot well, some leading, not bad.

The Correct Sized Diameter

Hi PO2,

May I suggest that you get off on the right foot first and slug your barrel to determine the correct sized diameter of the cast bullet that you are going to order? I cannot stress enough that this is paramount to realizing success with shooting cast bullets!

I had to cast my own to get what I wanted. You'd think reason would prevail.
