I'm in the proccess of working up a load and noticed the primer srikes seem to be a little off. I don't believe this will be a problem but wanted to get some input. For me it looks like the firing pin is longer than what I'm used to and causing a deep impact. This is for a Winchester High Wall and I would like to keep the pressures down. The load is for a 25 Krag based on the 30 Army/30-40 Krag brass so I don't have any "formal" load data. I do have some notes that have some load data that I am using. The primer strikes didn't seem to change very much between the lower charges and the higher charges.

The primer flow into the firing pin channel, may make the action hard to open.

The fix is to have the bolt bushed. Carlsbad on accurate shooter does a bunch of them. Seems like a pile of savages need it done.

Good information. I'm going to see about taking it apart and looking at the breech block to see what it looks like. As far as I can tell the action is from 1902. The barrel has been replaced, I'm guessing sometime in the 1940s.
