I was just on the phone with Walther due to my desire to order some "high cap" mags for my P99.

The lady informed me that they were NOT selling any magazines until Tuesday!

Shocked, I told her, but the ban expired 12 AM this morning! She said,

"No, it expires 12 am tonight!"

I asked her to check the ATF website. She said, "Hold on a moment". Then she came back and told me,

"yep, we can't sell them till tomororw."

I asked her if she CHECKED the ATF website, to which she replied with "No, I asked my boss!" :scrutiny:

It seems that for some reason, many gun dealers either do NOT wish to accept the fact that the ban IS OVER, or they were TRICKED by Brady and actually believe HER over the ATF that the ban ends tomorrow!

What foolishness!

Oh well let them hold on to thier ban, however false, for a few more hours. There's no way it will be extended and it just gives us ANOTHER night we can celebrate. :D

I couldn't buy what I wanted today for this very reason.

I called the Brady campaign just now. My call was immediately answered by a live person.

Your web site says that the assault weapons ban is still in effect.
"Yes, it does"
The ban expired this morning at midnight.
"That's what many people are claiming"
The ban was enacted on September 13, 1994, right?
"Yes, it was"
If you read the ban itself, it says that it is "repealed effective as of the date that is 10 years after this date.
"And it's still the 13th"
Yeah but it says "repealed effective as of the date", not after the date
"Well.........."
The ATF claims that the ban has expired already, too. They have a FAQ that you can get to from www.atf.gov
"Yes, we've heard that, too"
Oh, well I admire your determination against the truth.

We've waited 10 year. What's another 24 hours?

It's the principle of the matter. The ATF, the federal agency that is responsible for enforcing and deciding all firearms laws in the country, admited that the ban is OVER!

Yet, even still, the gun makers will follow and believe BRADY, their enemy, over what the enforces, the ATF say! It blows my mind!!

Anyone who won't sell mags for another 24 hours goes on my anti-gun manufacturers/dealers list.

Once upon a time, the CA DOJ said "sure, your SKS is legal. Go ahead and register it."

Then they said "oops, just kidding. Turn it in."

Waiting 24 hours - or even 48 - would seem to be prudent. Can you blame any firearms dealer/manufacturer for engaging in some CYA these days?

Sheppard Smith on Fox News just stated that the ban expired as of 12:01 this morning. At least it's finally trickling through to even the news media.

Serves me right for not checking.

Top glock says orders are shipping tomorrow, Tuesday, 9/14, even though their website says the ban is now dead today (9/13).
