I started shooting skeet and trap when I was about 14 with my dad at the local gun club. Really like it. We used to shoot all day long.Good times. I personally liked trap better, and seemed to be better at it than skeet for whatever reason, but I could also hold my own pretty good in skeet too, just wasnt quite as much fun for me for some reason. Funny thing was, I often outshot a lot of the "old timers" and it used to annoy them a bit.
I had lightning reflexes then, and could pick the up out of the house super fast. They used to joke that I need to wait for them to get out of the house before shooting.
. I did, but often not by a whole lot.
They were just jealous that they were getting slow in thier old age.
Actually, got my first job cleaning up, and pulling skeet and trap there for $3/hr cash. Not to shabby at 14. my favorite was doing doubles trap, as I had to be inside the "bunker" and load the 2 clays on the arm manually. It was a little exciting having 5 guys blasting shotguns just a little over my head. REALLY exciteng when one of the clays was weak and exploded when the arm tripped. It was like a clay hand grenade going off in my tiny little concrete bunker. I had a red flag on a stick I'd pop my hand out with to signal cease fire if I ran out of clays and had to come out for more. Good times.
havent done any in about 15 years now, except once a couple years ago with a few Navy guys from my shot using a hand thrower. Apparently I slowed down in my older years too, as I didnt manage to hit a single friggin' one.:banghead:
Guess I need to get back into it to refresh my shotgunning skills (and redeem myself a little in my own mind too.
